iOS 5.1 podcast chapter titles not loading

Upgraded to iOS 5.1 on my iPhone 4S yesterday and updated iTunes to 10.6. After I synced all my podcast chapter titles have disappeared. Instead of the chapter titles showing up, all I see is "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2", "Chapter 3", and so on.

I see some people on Apple Support Forums are experience the problem I am having. They also are saying the chapter titles in movies are not showing up.

I wonder when Apple will fix this issue? It's annoying!

It seems they just don't care. Or the Music.app team (?) cannot get to fix this.

Chaptered m4a/m4b files on iPad have not been treated properly since iOS 5.0. I was very disappointed to see that they have buried the feature even deeper in iOS 5.1. Now I cannot see chapters at all (before 5.1 you could see them but tapping them crashed the app). Pressing next goes to the next chapter, but no further info. What chapter am I on? Does this chapter have a title? It shows chapter images, though, just to add insult to injury: Oh yeah, it is supported, but we cannot find a way to fit this feature properly in our lovely new interface.

Podcasts, audiobooks, custom mixes I have made with Garageband and took the time to set markers and make chapters - all of it useless on my iPad running iOS 5.x. And this worked on 3.2 - 4.3.x. And it works on the iPhone running iOS 5.x. It even works properly on a 3.1.3 iPhone.

Who makes this Music.app ?

I'm having the same issue with Audiobooks. Instead of the proper chapters titles all I have are Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc.

When I was beta testing 5.0 it had this same problem with beta 1 and it was fixed in either beta 2 or 3 I can't remember. It's a shame they let it happen again and obviously don't test this.

I'm thinking about making a genius bar appointment and seeing if they have any iPhone 4S in stock that have 5.0.1 they can swap out for my iPhone 4S 5.1.

I read there is no way to downgrade the iPhone 4S once 5.1 is installed unlike past devices where it was possible to downgrade.

Between podcast chapter titles not loading and the audio cutting out for a split second when you lock or unlock the phone, I am VERY annoyed. I mainly listen to podcasts, and I really can't anymore because I have no idea what chapters I'm looking for.

Most be only Podcasts, it doesn't do that for audiobooks. I'd consider that much less of a problem than the screwing up the chapter titles but hopefully they fix both.

I submitted the chapter titles for feedback.

I know this isn't directly related to your question but I've moved on from the Music app for podcasts to an actual podcast app. I personally use Instacast but their are a few other really good ones as well. They are much more powerful than what Music.app provides and they work correctly plus they get updated quickly in general.

Exactly. The music app offers only the most basic podcast functionality. Try Downcast. It's really excellent. And only like 2 bucks, I think.
