iOS 5.1 WiFi connectivity issue

Since updating my 4s to iOS 5.1, I haven't been able to connect to my home wifi network. I've tried resetting my network settings, power cycling the router, but to no avail. Doesn't even look like my phone is trying to validate the security key. "Unable to connect to XXXX" appears pretty much instantaneously after tapping join. Any suggestions?

I started having a low signal this morning right before lunch.

Then I couldn't connect at all.

Then I realized that everything wireless in my house (TIVO's, gaming systems) had a low signal or wouldn't connect.

I spent a few hours troubleshooting my router and thought it might be the antenna.

I ordered a new router.

Anyway a friend read my comment on Facebook and said several of his friends were having issues with their routers and suggested it might be the solar storm.

Could that be the problem? Everything worked fine until today and nothing was changed in my router.

Thoughts anyone?

I was unable to connect last night & thought it was an iOS 5.1 problem, but then I noticed NOTHING would connect to my network. I rebooted the router & everything is good to go again.

I'm not the search police and assume you're already looked around. I've seen a few threads on wifi issues in thei iPhone forum. If you haven't been there yet you might check on those threads to see if there are any tips. I think this is the first I've seen for not being able to connect at all. The ones I remember were for things like dropping off the network whenever the phone went to sleep.

With all that said, I assume your router security isn't turned up to 11 and the phone is being blocked for some reason as an unknown device. I'm a simple guy and to troubleshoot things like this I disable all that high-end stuff and make it plain vanilla (unhide the SSID, encryption, 5 GHz, 802.11/a/b/g compatibility, etc.). If you aren't comfortable with no encryption on what might be a known network, your router might let you create an unsecure guest network. If I can connect I turn it all back on and see what happens.

This is one of those "it should work" situations where it actually should work. None of the stuff I mentioned turning off should make it not connect if it all worked before. And like the others mentioned, I assume all your other wifi devices are OK.
