I like iOS 5 but I am still disappointed... Remember it took 1 year to get Copy and Paste on the original iPhone. I don't know why Apple chooses to give us cool stuff in such small increments...

This is what I want to see in a future update:

Lock screen should display Live weather, SMS and Phone calls, etc, without having to unlock the phone and then swiping down. Too many steps just to check the weather. Jailbroken iPhones have had that for years and it looks cool and not to mention useful. All the other Androids and such have it too. I like Apple's simplicity but it should be our choice.

Call list: How about a received, dialed, missed call list display? There has been room for a 3rd button since 2007...

Mail: Since Mail doesn't have a Junk filter, I get hundreds of spam emails a day. It pisses me off every time I need to delete 20 or 30 messages that there is no SELECT ALL option...

SMS: Where are the thumbnails for the contacts? Again, Jailbroken iPhones have a much better SMS App. Apple should include cool, animated Emoticons for free on iMessage...

Main screen: Banner quick reply for messages and emails. Click and hold or something like that...
Why can't the iPhone rotate the main icons? It looks cool on iPad and useful too.
A way to toggle wi-fi on off without going to settings.
Animated backgrounds would be nice too.

Reminders: The App looks like it came from a totally different OS. It has nothing to do with the rest of the color scheme or style of the OS.
I still like Alarmed 1000 times better, and it is FREE.

Photos: I have about 11,000 photos on my iPhone 4S, sorted and labeled by date on iPhoto. iOS 5 doesn't respect the order. It usually places the newest items in the bottom. Luckily there is a way to edit the order now, but when you have over 100 albums, scrolling from the bottom to the top is a pain. There used to be a way to sort the order of the albums in iTunes before. The feature is no longer there but iPhoto does it. I never had this problem with iOS 4.

I am experiencing long delays before I can do anything after opening the Photos App. The phone freezes for 5 or more seconds and when it comes to life, it works fine. This only happens in Photos. I know I have thousands, but I had the same amount of photos on iOS4 and it was perfect. Also, I am seeing more and more photos taking 2 to 3 seconds to "clean up"... Again, never had that happen before.

The Auto Enhance function is useless... It takes too long to process the image and it really doesn't do anything. I'm sticking with the amazing Camera+ for the editing...

I can probably list many more things I would like to change. For now, these are the ones...

Cheers

Pat

* Erase single photos from Photo Stream

* A Notification Center archive. I want to scroll back through time so I can see what happened yesterday, even if I've moved on and cleared the notification tray out.

* Hurry up and start allowing 3rd party apps access to all these things. Like, let photo-apps use the volume button as a shutter. Let apps save data to iCloud. Let apps put their own widgets in the notification tray. And so on.

Number 3 is partially implemented. 3rd party apps can save to iCloud as Scribblenauts uses it.

Two years, actually. And then another year and a half until Android finished their implementation. Maybe the issues aren't as simple as you perceive them to be.

Server side junk mail filtering is much more efficient and available on most common accounts.

You can enable emoticons (lots of them) in iOS5 by going to Settings - General - Keyboard - International Keyboards - Add New Keyboard - and select Emoji. You then select them by clicking the globe in the keyboard. They aren't animated as far as I can tell though.

While I wouldn't expect them to add this in Portrait view, they could've added it to Landscape view. I'd like to see that implemented sooner rather than later.

This.

Also, I'd like to be able to add my own words to the dictionary.

There are shortcuts now... THat's the closest thing to adding a word to the dictionary.

I forgot to add I want a multilingual dictionary. I write in 4 languages on a daily basis and it sucks to have to switch languages or else whatever you type will be auto corrected...

- Make it so you can sync an album to your phone from itunes without it adding two exactly identical albums (known glitch, many have reported it in the apple support forums)

- fix the issue with some people's led notifications not working (mine didnt, I had to do a hard reboot and mess with the led settings button to get it to work, by making sure you slide it and not just push on it)

- make it so you can get led notifications when you get email? Or at least have it be an option?

oh and i definitely agree with contact pictures, even in portrait. When i was jailbroken i had the app that let you do that, and didnt see any problems, is there a reason why they dont want us to see pics in our list of contacts? Or at least favorites would be nice...
