Hi all,

has there been any official statement from Apple on the issue with Apple Watches not charging with 3rd party chargers? I wonder if this is a bug or a feature but I fear they did this on purpose... :(

Depends on if the charger supports correct certification. Any random chargers generally don’t work with apple devices.

But they worked perfectly fine before the update. One might get the impression, Apple is doing this to sell more of their (non existing) charging docks or at least a wants to sell more “certifications”...

It’s a real possibility but more than accessories sales they’re probably more interested in prevention of lawsuits when devices catch fire or explodes due to use of unregulated chargers.
