So I believe that I'm in a rare situation that I'm still using the first generation iPhone (yes from 2007 and crazy I know, but I wanted that white iPhone 4 last year and waited so long now I get the white 4S). At any rate my question I'm looking for advice on is, my device bricked/died yesterday from upgrading the Facebook app (stuck at Apple logo on boot). I did a full restore and it wont activate (iTunes never shows the screen but sees the device), even the Apple store couldn't get it to go and thinks they stopped supporting it. So knowing I just had a few days left before my 4S arrives, I popped the SIM and put into another original iPhone I have with battery life of like 10 mins. However I didn't restore this one and was last used over a year ago. I only care about calls and texts right now so not wasting time to fix contacts or update apps.
So my plan is to activate the new iPhone 4S running iOS 5 on Friday by connecting to my PC and hopefully select a backup file of my old iPhone I have stored there from 2 months ago. Will this work and be OK or am I going to clutter up the new device? I would assume I don't need to try and restore the phone I'm using now with that new backup to migrate over do I?
Thanks for any and all advice!! I can't wait to join the next century of iPhone, LOL!!
