So today I was playing with the other languages on the keyboard and noticed that the predictive text feature that is supposedly hidden in iOS 5 popped up. Why isn't this in the English one?

This is the Japanese Romaji keyboard, which means that predictive text is necessary; you have to pick out how to write what you're saying.

I'm still learning Japanese so apologies if this isn't 100% accurate. Unlike English, Japanese is typed phonetically, but there are different words with the same pronunciation. For example, かって, 買って and 飼って (and probably some others that I haven't learned yet) are all pronounced and typed as "katte". Likewise, き, 木 and 気 are all "ki". The UI that appears is for selecting the word that you want.

As for why Apple doesn't have something similar for English, I wouldn't have a clue :D

Makes perfect sense. Haha. It would be cool if it was In the English keyboard as well.
