iOS 5 Screwed up iPod App

This is on an iPhone 4. I'm really hoping someone here has the fix for this- when I Google it there are other people with this issue but no one seems to know what to do.

So since I updated to 5.0.0 and then to 5.0.1 my iPod app is all screwy.

I can add new songs just like before in mp3 format and it will show the song name on iTunes. Then I go in to "get info" type in the artist and all looks good from iTunes. Then I go over to iPhone and the artist is still listed as unknown but the name of the song shows up correctly.

On top of that there is a band that starts with M that is someone in the B section of artists.

So essentially every song I've added since the update is in an artist folder called unknown.

Yes I have this issue too. Trying to change the info for songs on your device from itunes shows it changed on itunes but never updates on the device.

Also if you try to add album art the song will get corrupted and not playable

However I tried doing this before updating to 5.0.1 so for me it's been a bug all along

So there is no fix for this? I even took all the music off and put it all back on now every artist is unknown. FAIL

So for anyone that has this problem here is some good news-

I don't really have a fix for this more like a half ass way around an apple screw up.

Basically you have to sync the living ***** out of your phone. I had to do it at least 5 times back to back. There will be 4 or 5 step syncs depending on how you get into the sync (plug in phone, itunes option ect.) It will only fix it on a 5 step sync and not all the time.

If on the 5th step you see "applying changes" your in luck.

Doing this after adding every song is retarded :rolleyes:

I know what you mean. Out of nowhere, my iPod app has started freaking out. It refused to sync new music, lost old music, lost tons of album art, began acting buggy, and began acting weird.

I say the culprit is iTunes in the Cloud. I turned it on, and all my problems got worse. It acts up, it makes a mess of my music, and it loses song data. I think to accommodate our troubled friend that is iTunes in the Cloud, they had to add in new code that was way too buggy. It ruined the music app. It used to work so well.

My biggest grievance? They began calling it the Music app and removed videos. That just makes no sense. My iPhone is not an iPod. I want it to have a section on it that is an iPod, though, because that's a great brand. And accessories say "connect your iPod" -- but I don't have one anymore. The iPod touch doesn't need an app named "iPod," because it's the device name. But the iPhone is not an iPod, it is just supposed to have one in it.

Needless to say, I'm annoyed. I've never had such a headache over an Apple product.

That's a silly thing about the video thing. You can actually play purchased videos from the music app. And it's actually a little better because you can watch videos in portrait mode. In the video app it's locked in landscape

The thing is, though, there was no need to slpit them. They could have added the portrait video to the iPod app. It over complicated a thing that was nice, simple, and reliable. It just doesn't make sense.

Just because you don't see a need to split them, doesn't mean there isn't a reason. In fact there's at least 2 reasons they split them, one is to uinify the iPhone having seperate apps for music and video like iPod Touch and iPad and also it makes it easier for iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match, which are Music only.

For me, i prefer the seperate apps, means i can put the music app in my music folder and video app in video folder. It always seemed that the iPod app was unneccesarily crammed with the both types in there.
