iOS 5... so what?

I have an iPad 2 now running iOS 5 as of last night. I really don't get all the hype for iOS 5. The only thing I like is the tabbed browsing. Have no use for iCloud since its only 5GB of storage. What else does this new and improved OS offer that OS 4.5 didn't?

Performance is about the same. I have absolutely no use for iMessage, or that newsstand thing. Notification center can't really be the only big feature here. What else am I missing?

To be honest, I'm not noticing much either. Just little tweaks here and there. Notification Center was supposed to be huge but I've been using lockinfo notifications through jailbreaking and apples version of notifications is very poor.

I guess I'm spoiled being able to use soo many useful features through jailbreaking. Can't wait until they release the new one for iOS5.

I had the same reaction in my iPad. It feels basically the same.

iOS 5 is so much better with the iPhone, were the notification system is indeed a BIG improvement.

Yeah I just figured it would run a lot better even though iOS 4.5 ran quite well lol. Hopefully when I get my 4S tomorrow my reactions will be different.

I think iOS5 is way better on the iPad. AirPlay mirroring is unbelievable...you can play racing games with almost no discernable lag on the TV. Also, the enhanced gestures makes the home button obsolete not to mention Safari is 100% improved. Now lets hope we get Siri...

For me, iOS 5 has removed the annoyances from 4.3.5 ...

The third party apps not displaying their launch animation on first launch, the stuttering frame rate of the multi-tasking tray opening when done on a full 16 app home screen, the chequered board effect when scrolling in Safari that crept n from 4.3 onwards, and just general UI tweaks.

Couple that with Notification Center, Wireless Syncing, and iCloud ... it's a superb update.

LMAO. I guess if you're not using (what I would say is) the most noteworthy feature of OS5 - iCloud - then you probably wouldn't notice much of a difference from the previous OS.

Overall, I think iOS 5 is a good solid incremental upgrade to iOS4. Apple does not create revolutionary updates but evolutionary updates and iOS5 appears to fit that mantra. I like the new notifications, it will be helpful once I'm able to get my emails
