iPhone iOS 6.1 post-jailbreak battery life.

Hey guys,

Don't know if its only me but I'm noticing some battery drain on my iPhone after jail breaking. I'm currently running Zepplin, WB, NCSettings and BytaFont. WB has 3 themes checked off which are for NCSettings and status bar mods. I've saved my SHSH blobs so I'm thinking of going back to normal as before it lasted a day now I have to charge it 2x a day. What are your thoughts?

there are widespread comments that 6.1 is to blame for the battery drain:

also keep in mind that if you are using your phone more often as a result of the jailbreak (tweaking, adding stuff), of course the battery will drain faster.


sounds obvious but many dont realise how much more time they are actually spending using it to this end.

On my 4S it's exactly the opposite, I've gone from using 20% battery a day in standby with all radios off (apart from calls/texts) in 5.1.1 to 10% a day in the same situation with 6.1.

Everyone's battery life is going to be different.


I got a full days usage prior to jail-breaking and i still get a full days usage after jail-breaking.

Thats all the thought process i need to put into this

Just jailbroke my 4 last night and noticed significant drainage. I have a theme running to make it look like Mac OS 7 and one widget, using winterboard. Wow it also drained my data plan granted I only get 200mb a month but I just used 300 today alone and usually never go over, now I have to pay 30 bucks for the extra data. I'm restoring to factory settings.

My battery got better well I am using 6.01.

So I have a stupid question and I can't get a clear answer. I was thinking someone here could help answer it. I use iCloud for backups. I have it set up to automatically backup once a day when connected to wifi and plugged in. I don't use iCloud to backup emails because I'm a gmail user.

So my question is, when you go into settings then Mail, Contacts, Calendars then select Fetch New Data. I have push turned off because I don't need to be immediately notified of new mail. Email is not that important to me where I need to know the second I receive a new email. So for me, push is turned off. I have Fetch turned on to check hourly. Next when i tap on Advanced, I can choose individual settings for iCloud and Gmail. Gmail I have set up to fetch. But what is the significance of the icloud setting? I can choose push, fetch, or manual. Does this setting effect the automatic backups? What iCloud data would be effected if I choose push, fetch, or manual? Does anyone know? The default setting is push. Depending on what data this refers to, I want to choose either fetch or manual to save on battery life.

Sorry I should know this. This is a total newb question haha. But I can't find a definitive answer!

Same battery life on my i5 (which was always good to start with) and i have like 15 tweaks or so on my device.

I have my screen brightness usually on 70-75% at all times

draining faster for me. I can't be sure, but my guess is Zephyr.

Correct me if I am wrong, but to recognize the gesture, Zephyr has to be constantly running in the background right? It would make sense that it drains the battery then right?

That setting dictates how you receive your email from your iCloud email account and has nothing to do with your backups. Setting to fetch hourly or manual retrieval will help your battery life though I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make.

Awesome. Thanks for the answer. I doubt it'll have much of an effect either, but as a jailbreak, I add a lot of extra stuff that was never intended to be running. Because of these extra processes and "stress" on the iPhone, I make sure to disable everything I don't use. Thanks again!

Edit: Since we're on this topic, I'm surprised there isn't a tweak in Curia that allows you to set a custom time for the fetch schedule. Hell I'm surprised apple doesn't give us the option to set a custom time. Why can I only choose 15 mins, 30 mins, hourly or manual?? It's so silly that I can't choose 2 or 3 hours.

Anyone know if there is a tweak that allows you to set a custom fetch time?
