All right, I have my own custom lockscreen theme for Winterboard, which shows the current phase of the moon. I made it back when I was on iOS 5.0.1, and I never had a problem with it. I updated to iOS 6.1 yesterday, rejailbroke, and my theme still works.

However, there is a problem. When I receive an email or text message, the notification banner does not appear on my lockscreen. The phone vibrates as it should, and it lights up from sleep to show the lockscreen, but there is no banner notification for the new message.

When I unlock the phone, it goes straight to the email or message app, so that part is working (and it is bugging me: I like the iOS 5 behavior better. I want to find a tweak that makes the phone always unlock to where it was when you locked it, or at least always to the springboard, anyone know of one?)

And when I remove the theme so the lock screen is stock, the banner notifications appear just fine.

So, is this a problem with my theme, in which case what can I do to fix it? Or is it a problem with Winterboard, in which case is the issue known and being fixed already? If it’s relevant, I’m using an iPhone 4s.

I rather like seeing incoming messages on my lockscreen, so I find it somewhat disappointing that they are not showing there when I use my custom lockscreen.

For reference, my lockscreen theme is a simple html page, with a js file to calculate the current moon phase, a folder of images of the moon for it to display, and a really basic css file. It’s available here.

The problem appears to be with Winterboard. I and a select few on here have been researching the issue all day. It seems like HTML based lock screens activated through Winterboard are blocking notifications from showing up (they're getting stuck 'behind' the theme).

That's what I know so far.

Yep, I am experiencing this issue as well. I have temporarily disabled Winterboard based themes for lockscreen.

Thank you both, I’m glad to know it’s not just me.

Is Saurik aware of the problem? I’m sure he is extremely busy these days, and this relatively-minor bug is probably not his top priority, but as he is the author of Winterboard, it would be good to know if he is aware of the issue.

Yes, saurik is aware of this bug. Just for future reference, if you suspect you've found a bug in Winterboard, the best place to report it is in the #winterboard IRC channel on the server irc.saurik.com (as noted on the Winterboard package page in Cydia) - that's where saurik will definitely see reports. If you're not already familiar with using IRC, it's just a type of chat system, and there are some free web-based clients for it, such as Mibbit.

i originally thought i'd messed up my settings somewhere along the line !

I now use a tweak called bulletin which allows me to pull my notification banner down without unlocking the phone ,as a stop gap till this is resolved.
