Hey everyone,

today I got my iPhone 5s. I am totally satisfied with it but there is one issue which bothers me just a little bit:

When I got it out of the box one of the first things I did was to install the iOS 7.0.5 update.

After doing so I installed the two apps I use the most on my iPhone: WhatsApp and Facebook. Whatsapp was just working fine - when I opened it I was asked whether I want to allow it to send Push Notifications and if I grant access to my contacts. Fine!

When I opened up Facebook I wasn't asked about whether I want to receive push messages... Hmm strange. I looked up in Preferences > Notification Center if Facebook was in the list of included apps but there was no Facebook at all... Strange!

I removed the Facebook app, reinstalled it, rebooted my phone a couple of times, whiped all contents and settings and also did a fresh restore in iTunes to iOS 7.0.5 and reinstalled Facebook. IT DOES NOT WORK! It doesn't matter if I install the app from within iTunes or from the iPhone itself.

I googled a lot and I also tried a variety of things. I am using Facebook version 6.9.1 (latest version).
Strange thing is: I restored my OLD iPhone 5, reinstalled iOS 7.0.4, installed Facebook app and it appeared in the notification center...

I don't understand it :(

Has anyone faced a similar issue?
Thank you very much!

So basically no matter what you do you don't see Facebook in the Notification Center settings? This includes actually opening Facebook and using it for at least a bit here and there over a period of a day or two (in case the notification alert might need to come up and doesn't do it initially for some reason)?

Have you also tried checking mobile push settings inside the Facebook app itself, just in case to see if anything might be weird there and/or to even disable/enable them to see if that might change anything for you?

Yes, that's right. I tried almost everything but it won't appear in Notification Center settings.

I also checked the notification settings inside Facebook app which seemed to be ok (based on what I found on the web).

I also advised my friends to send me dozens of messages in Facebook but push notifications are still not working :(

I'm having this exact same issue (FB is not appearing in Settings > Notification Centre).

Has anyone found a resolution for this?

Have you signed into Facebook in Settings > Facebook?

I think Messages on Facebook are now managed by the Messenger app that you need to install separately. Try that.

I have the same issue on 5s 7.0.5 ....that problem I dont have in 7.0.4 with evasion

Old App doesn't work either

I have the same problem, so fortunately I had Facebook app version 6.8 still on my Macbook Pro so I did a full reset on my iPhone 5S then input my username and password in the built-in iPhone settings then installed Facebook v6.8 via iTunes to the phone and it's still not working. My best guess is that there's something up on Facebook's end causing this. But, I still receive push notifications via Facebook app on my iPad.

Hello everyone, I have the same problem on my iPhone 5S. I use the latest (6.9.1) version of Facebook.

Has anyone found a resolution for that problem? :(

Same problem Here!

I too am experiencing this issue!

I have spent hours with tech support from my phone provider, I have also spent time with Apple tech advisor via chat. All are blaming facebook!

Facebook do not offer a direct solution and it seems we're left suffering with this!

I recently switched from Android and never had a problem.

I have also, under the guidance from tech support, have uninstalled and reinstalled the apps, restored phone to factory settings but....Nothing! All other apps work fine!

I did a complete restore the other day to banish the 20GB (!) of other that each of my iPhone ahad accumulated.

After doing a clean install of 7.0.5 on my iPhone 5s and 7.0.4 on my iPad (3rd gen) – the iPad registered fine, whereas the iPhone did not.

I've attempted several Facebook-side tweaks, a full restore back to 7.0.5, a full restore to 7.0.4 (on the iPhone), and installing the oldest version of Facebook I have backed up (v6.6) – none of these have worked.

Something certainly isn't right with this, and I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I'm now going to attempt a clean install of 7.0.4 and then installing Facebook 6.6 off the bat (rather than downloading the 6.9.1) – will report any success.

Here's hoping that this is already on Apple/Facebook's radar.

Regards,
Jamie

No joy – did a clean install of 7.0.4 and installed Facebook 6.6 straight out of the box. There's got to be something wrong on Facebook's end.

Is everyone having issues with iPhone 5s or is it across all models?

Not exactly a useful answer.

It's not just messages that aren't coming through – it's ALL notifications from Facebook. The app itself isn't even registering itself into Notification Centre.

Same exact problem here. I am on 7.0.4, but Facebook doesn't even appear in the Notification Center.

I have mobile push alerts enabled in the the FB app, I have the FB Messenger app installed, and I am logged in to FB from the Settings > Facebook menu. For notifications it tells me to manage them in the Notification Center. Pretty impossible when the application isn't listed there!

Like you, I also tried deleting, reinstalling, restoring, and so on...nothing worked!

UPDATE: I also installed FB's new Paper app. Badges worked, but just as with the FB app, the Paper application doesn't show up in the Notification Center either.

Paper has the option in its settings to "open fb push notifications in paper instead of FB app" Make sure thats is enabled.

That does work. Thanks. But I honestly am not a fan of Paper and don't want to have to use it. It's over-animated and sluggish IMO

I'd already tried that. Still can't even find Facebook in the list of notification center apps. Oh well. I give up. Guess I gotta use paper

Mine wasn't either. I did what was listed above and it still wasn't there. The reboot brought it up. I think the key is that final switch when you click on "all notifications" and then the reboot.

One of my iPads already had the last entry "all notifications" checked and it wasn't showing up so I clicked the other option closed out FB and rebooted..then followed the above steps and rebooted. This time FB appeared at the bottom of notifications under "do not include". Opened it and turned it on. Shazam, it was fixed too.

So far the fix has worked on iPhone and iPad

same here

I am using iphone 4s with ios 7.0.4 and i have the same problem. the only solution for now , that i found , is to restore from an older backup where the notifications work. In my case was possible but i imagine not everyone has one. If i do that it works flawlessly , but if i do a clean restore , the same , not prompt for asking push notification approval and it does not appear in notification center... something's definitely wrong with facebook.

This fixed mine.

in Facebook

more/account settings/notifications/mobile push/sound for notification
check all notifications

close fb AND REBOOT

Did this actually fix your issue though? I managed to get it back into Notification Centre by doing a reset (power and home buttons) but this didn't actually cause the notifications to come through. The iPad received them fine, but the iPhone didn't.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say Paper has screwed something up server side for iPhone.
