iPhone iOS 7 vs 6 on iPhone 4 & 4S

Who’s got experience switching from iOS 6 to 7 on an iPhone 4 or 4S? Are there any issues?

I keep hearing about lag, battery life, wifi dropping out, and apps crashes, but I don’t know how much of that is isolated issues and how much is actually problems with iOS 7 on older devices. I’m particularly interested in how iOS 7.0.6 jailbroken runs on iPhones 4 and 4S.

7.0.6 is borderline usable on the iPhones 4, both non-JB'n and JB'n, without doing any kind of restore first. Not much better than the iPhone 3G was on 4.2.1. (Albeit, of course, it's still far faster when stepping into General in Settings. On my iPhone 3G running stock 4.2.1, w/o JB, it takes 23 seconds(!!!) to get there (just benchmarked it to be sure). On my iPhone 4, it's in no way this bad.)

On my 4S, I have no problems with 7.0.6. You can safely upgrade the 4S.

7.0.4 runs smooth and issue free on my 4S. 7.0.6 should be just the same.

I wouldn't do an iPhone 4s upgrade. There are many reports that iPhone 4s can get permanently damaged in a way that Wi-Fi won't work anymore. Apple won't give you a refund.

Seems like plenty of people have been upgrading just fine.

I have had zero problems updating my 4S to 7.0.1-7.0.4-7.0.6. No battery issues, no WiFi issues. I speak from my own experience, not hearsay.

However, your mileage may vary.

No issues here on my 4 on 7.0.4. It's a little laggy at times but not bad and not really worse than I had on iOS 6. Hard for me to comment on battery. I need to charge it during the day at some point but I use it way more than I used to

No issues with my iPhone 4S nor my mum's 4, go ahead. (Clean install and no restore from backup, though).

I restored from backup and haven't had an issue. Possibly would be a bit better setting up from new but oh well

iPhone 4:
I went from 5.1.1 jail broken to 7.whatever jail broken and I'm very pleased with the results. My 4 is running smooth and I was quite happily surprised and pleased with iOS 7.

I've Played with iOS 7 on both the iPhone 4 and 4S and can say that iOS 7 on iPhone 4 is very sluggish. iPhone 4S handles it OK, not as great as it should, but OK.
