With the iPhone 6 about to be released, I'm wondering if there will be a jailbreak at launch time?

No and it's better there isn't, there's almost always a ton of issues and you don't want them to show the leak and end up with it patched early

Probably not

That has hardly be a consideration for the devs. Usually development takes some time and it turns out a stable, releasable JB came for .x versions, what did happen is that a JB was ready close to a .x release and the devs held of to cover that as well, but not because there were bugs in a .0 release.

I would put my money on the devs to not put anything out until a .0.1 release anyway. In going over the Keynote again, Eddy Cue was talking about how :apple:Pay wasn't going to be available until October 2014, and will be available as an update to iOS 8. So that tells me that there would be a separate release for that. So it would be wise for the devs to wait until that comes out before putting out any jailbreak, should they even find an exploit to use for a jailbreak.

I think pangu will get it out quick or at least it'll force the others to get it out

Yes, right away at launch time.
They said September 17, a few hours before lunch when Apple releases ios 8.
Because you know its nothing whipping a quick JB thingie and just plugging in your iphone and you're done.
Simple and easy stuff, I'd put one out too but I gotta do laundry that day so maybe later.

Hopefully the Pangu team will be able to figure out an exploit on their own! Those Chinese folks are smart, and there's a lot of them, so hopefully...

The Evad3rs might have that as a consideration, but Pangu was more commercially orientated.

Don't hold your breath......

I think we'll see more updates of iOS 8 compared to iOS 7, probably the first being before December. This is also the earliest possible time frame we'll see a jailbreak.

iOS 7 updates related to just getting the UI and OS overhaul up to par and fixing bugs. iOS 8 has a lot of features to be added throughout the year:

- Improved Maps with Transit
- Apple Pay
- iWatch Integration
- Emoji's

Yes, there is going to be a jailbreak midnight after the launch. Apple is going to release it themselves, not even pangu or the evaders or anyone else getting into the act.

And then the next day, Tim Cook is going to host another event and demonstrate the jailbroken iPhone 6 and 6+ to everyone as their secret weapon to make investors happy and then the stock is gonna go through the roof to $150 a share.

I'm a little worried about a jailbreak on a phone that has Apple Pay on it.

Am I the only idiot thinking like that?

I'm sure people will do a thorough analysis of any jailbreak that is released, malicious activity would be noticed. I also think Apple Pay is going to store CC information like how Touch ID stores fingerprint data.

That's what we would always like to think, but remember just a few days ago they found the Pangu Trojan that was causing App Store purchases without the owner's consent.

iBlacklist....

I'd still jailbreak for that one application, and I'd sure like to think it's safe. :)

Seriously? Can you point me to your source for that?

Show us a source for that information please. That's the first I've heard of it.

This is incorrect. The malware is being installed through shady tweaks from shady repos, not part of the pangu jailbreak.

I wouldn't expect a JB until closer to christmas! Thats my guess as they have to figure out this new processor and everything else!

Yes. You are absolutely right.

I apologize if the imprecision of my typing cast inadvertent aspersions on the character of Pangu.
