Hello -

I got a new iPhone 6s plus today. Set it up as a new phone, everything is great, except messages. I can send text messages out, but absolutely no iMessages. They don't sync with my mbp, or iPad. The mpb, iPad, and old iPhone 6plus do all sync iMessages (though they can't send regular sms texts of course).

I've tried anything I could find from searching the web. I'm not sure why my other 3 devices are all playing nice and the new phone won't. My old phone was also on 9.0.1.

In settings, messages, it says iMessage is waiting for activation. When I try to click "use your apple id for iMessage" it freezes.

I think it was working for a minute, but then it took my cell phone number away, and didn't allow the code to be sent to my mbp. I have signed in and out of everything, restarted, wiped... super frustrated here.

I apologize if there is another thread about this, I didn't find it.

Thanks for any assistance!

Woke up this AM and all seems right with iMessages. Sun is now brighter, grass is greener and the sky seems bluer.

Anyone else still having issues this morning? Upgraded to a 6S plus yesterday (restored from iCloud backup) and am having no luck with messages working.

I can't seem to get my phone # to show up in messages on my desktop or iPad and on my phone I can only send/receive SMS despite iMessage being enabled. I've tried signing in/out my Apple ID on all devices and also did a reset settings on the iPhone, but still the same issue. Hoping it's not just me?

I've got the same issue on a 6s. Spoke to senior tech support and they are replacing my phone. He thinks it may be a hardware issue. I tried everything. I went back to my 6 and iMessage works fine.

I'm was having the same issue as everyone else, could not send or receive texts and could not send or receive calls.. Was working fine when I set my 6s plus up but I upgraded to 9.0.1 everything stop working then I went to 9.1 still nothing working so I called Verizon and they had to activate my phone again..one more thing I did have LTE working the whole time. Hope this helps..

Well figured I'd try a restore one more time before going to the store for new hardware tomorrow. This time I restored with my sim
Card out. I than went through the setup without the sims card. Once I got to the screen that told me I couldn't proceed without the SIM card I put it in the phone. I was shocked to see iMessage was now working. Worth a try.

Nice! Was this restoring to factory defaults or restoring from an iCloud backup that made it work? Either way, I'll have to give that a try. I'm also going to try to downgrade to 9.0 tomorrow and see if that helps.

I downgraded my iPhone 5 to 9.0 and restored from a previous backup. iMessage seems to be working properly now :)
