Has the latest update fixed the lag/terrible performance on the iPad 4?

I went back to 8.4.1 because iOS 9 killed the experience on my iPad 4, due to the stuttering etc.

Thanks in advance ...

I haven't noticed a lag so far on my iPad 4. Apps start up fast, the news app took maybe three seconds to load content, but hadn't been refreshed in 24 hours. Opening apps happen faster than I can click the icons. Safari seems to be handling tabs better, but I haven't loaded more than four so far.

I thought 9.0 and 9.0.1 were pretty good. I'm finding 9.0.2 to be a bit laggy and the app launch delay is noticeable.

You appear to be the exception.

Many people are complaining about the lag.

My iPhone 6 is not even completely smooth, and I restored as fresh from iTunes (both iPad and iPhone) and laboriously added everything back manually ...

iOS 9 is nearly perfect on my iPad 4, every thing works perfect except for the laggy app switcher, it's even worse on mini 2 and air, I think an update would fix the app switcher lag soon, otherwise apps run like a charm, the whole system feels fluid.

I opened quite a few tabs today, the blank page started showing up. But it loaded faster than previously. App switcher is smooth, but I only had four apps in it.

After 1 day on 9.0.2, it's still pretty bad on my iPad 4. Text entry lags badly in Safari, as well as lag when scrolling.

Ios 9 on ipad 4 is a lag fest and its real. My iPad 4 performance is dfinitively not like when I bought it with iOS 6. IOS8 was ok, but 9? It lags everywhere. Opening apps is laggy, app manqger is laggy, web browsing is extremely laggy, seriously, I'm the type of guy who don't usualy see lag that much, but the iPad 4 is very, very laggy with iOS 9.

iOS 6 and 7 were perfect, iOS 8.0 was ok i guess till iOS 8.1.3 came out, it was horrible, system felt slow, doing a simple task like unlocking my iPad 4 i found a lag. iOS 9 saved my iPad 4, its fast and fluid like it did with iOS 7 except for the app switcher lag that doesnt only exist on the iPad 4 but also on iPad mini 2, Air 1, 3rd Gen, when many devices have the same lag, u can say that apple will fix this very soon.

so you guys are saying I should keep my iPad 4 on iOS 6.1.3?

No, don't stay there, it will become ever more useless when apps aren't supported.

9.1 on my ipad4 is excellent. It Is always laggy at first, supposedly indexing, I just leave to do that overnight, and I shut it down once a day for a few days, after that no more lag.

Unless you want to run more recent apps and care about FaceTime
Not really no.... I use FaceTime very rarely

Evernote, 1Password, AirPlay it or even Soundcloud work just fine... I know that new stuff is not being updated but that's fine with me. My iPad is for me really more of a mobile library of ebooks, notes and sketches than anything else. Plus I still get to use the old iPhoto app for my shared pics:)

I haven't saved my blobs back in the day so can't test the stuff myself but I appreciate your feedback!

I use my iPad 4 with iOS 9 (9.2 PB 1 at the moment). It's completely usable and works fine. Just don't forget it's more than a couple years old now and won't run like an Air 2. It has slowed down a bit, but I can handle that because I like the new features. 9.2 seems better than 9.1, but that's just my subjective opinion. I'm going to keep it until at least iOS 10.
