Hi there - I've got a 6S Plus coming on release day. Currently running iOS 9.1 public beta on my 6 Plus.

What's my best way to transfer my data?

- Back up 6 Plus to iTunes
- Open the 6S Plus
- Set up as a new device
- Enroll in public beta - download 9.1 beta
- Then plug into iTunes and restore from backup?

Is that right? Any better ways?

Yes, that is the way I will be doing it. I don't want to start over because I also have an Apple Watch. If you have a watch too, un-pair the watch first before you make your encrypted backup (you need to encrypt your backup to retain your health data).

The best way is to start from scratch with the new phone.
Not having done this when you start as a new phone would you keep all your iMessage history and thread? Is this stored separately in iCloud outside the back up?

I believe Messages are stored along with the iCloud backup...but then again, your messages are available on iPad/Mac when you login to messages. So I'm not quite sure. Anyone know?
