I am on the 9.1 beta and have obviously backed up my phone since then (I do so weekly if not more often than that), and was wondering what the protocol will be once I get my 6S Plus if I attempt to restore from a backup like I normally do? I have never done it this way before. Thanks in advance for any help.

iOS 9.1 Restore With New 6S Plus??

Several things here.
When you get your new device it will have iOS 9 installed. You will need to setup as a new device at least to the point that you can update to 9.1. You would then restore your just made copy via iTunes or you can use your iCloud backup. Encrypt your backup via iTunes from your old phone when you run it.
You could, if you like, start fresh. Depending on you and your current setup you will have many things available via cloud services. I can't tell you what you would lose or keep without knowing more about your current setup. If you sync everything from iTunes, it will still be there. If you sync with cloud services it will be there. Some things you would lose starting fresh would be Health data and Messages. Neither of these things live outside the device or backup so starting over would give you no place to download them. So many variables to consider but the easiest way is to update your new phone and do a restore.
Quick question (hopefully). I have a similar issue myself. Updated to iOS 9.1 beta but didn't backup the iOS 9 version first. My fault, 100%. So if I follow this right, when my 6S arrives I can set up as new, install 9.1 public beta (hopefully, if not prohibited) then restore a backup of my current phone (9.1) that I make just before doing all this?
Also, as long as I don't update to 9.1.1 then once 9.1 is official, simply deleting the profile should allow me to update to the public release yes?
Yes, this is correct. Once you get your new device, upgrade it to the version that is equal to your current device and restore the backup. If you're using iTunes and maintain health data remember that your backup must be encrypted. This is simply a check box on the device page just to the left of the backup button. In fact, when you click the box for encrypted it will ask for a password and just run the backup. The restore is just connecting your device, clicking restore and picking the correct backup.
