ios 9.2.1 Unable to add calendar entry

Iphone 6s+ IOS version 9.2.1. Can click on + to add calendar entry but after entering information and clicking on Add the screen goes back to the calendar screen but no entry is added. No idea when this started just noticed it.

Could there be something going on with the particular calendar you are adding it to (perhaps try another calendar)? Do you perhaps have a lot of (as in really a lot) events already that might be filling up the calendar?

That was it the selected, ie active, calendar was wrong, thanks for the solution!
