iOS 9.2 Battery Drain

My iPhone 6 battery was doing well...about 9 hours of usage and half a day standby put together. I had this kind of battery life on iOS 9.1 and recently with 9.2; I decided to reset all settings just to make sure there weren't any bugs, but after I did that, my battery life went downhill. It drains every couple of minutes with use and a few percentages on standby every couple of hours. I put all my settings back to what I had them before I reset the settings, so I have no idea what's going on.

I have an Ipad 4 and updated to IOS 9.2 yesterday, I have been fighting to keep it charged since the upgrade. I just searched and found there are multiple threads about the issue, check out the Apple forums and let them know you are having issues with battery draining. It drains literally 10-20% every 2 minutes which is ridiculous. They are recommending so far to backup and reset everything in order to resolve which I believe is ridiculous, hopefully Apple resolves this immediately.

Been running 9.2 betas and now the final version on a 6S+. Battery life is the best it's ever been. If I'm at home I can go over 24 hours before it's dead, and that's using a TON of social media, with moderate texting and calls. If I'm working, I can get about 18 hours tops. I fly helicopters and the battery gets beat to death hopping from cell tower to tower in flight. I always forget to put it in airplane mode!

I did a fresh install of 9.2 on my iPhone 6 the day it was released and last night I went to bed at 42% woke up my phone was dead. No apps running I found out in the battery settings my "home screen" took up 56% of my battery. Weirdest battery drain bug. Was thinking about downgrading back to 9.1

I feel like my 6s+ has been draining a little more quickly ever since 9.2. But since I typically end the day at more than 40% anyways, it hasn't inconvenienced me yet.

Having the same issue here on my 6+, although not as drastic as some of the above posters. But I've definitely noticed a fairly big decrease in the amount of usage I can get before I need to plug back in (~5 hours compared to the previous 9-10 hours).

My original Air has been draining like it's going out the style. It is driving me insane. I used to be able to go days between charges. It was at 100% last night. Dead by noon.

My 6s+ has terrible battery life since 9.2 too. I keep waiting for it to settle down but it still hasn't. Probably a wipe and setup as new would fix it but I don't feel like wasting two days of my life doing that. Sigh. Hopefully the next update will fix whatever is going on, but maybe not as Apple likely has their best coders on the iOS X project now.

Do a firmware restore, do not restore from any backup, It's the only way to live with a iphone now, apple's OS sucks!

My iPhone 5 got very warm and battery drained fast after the update, iPads didn't get warm, but were slow and stuttery. But, I follow this procedure and it seems to work:

Immediately after the update do a restart, and then leave it on for 24 hours (there will be lag, stuttering, battery drain usually, which I'Ve heard is because it is indexing). Then, run the battery down into the red (less than 10 percent), plug it in, do a hard reset. Usually everything is working well then, even my old ipad4 is amazingly fast and smooth for its age. Iphone5 battery is not draining now, best it has been in a long time. Immediately after the update it dropped from 43 to 27 percent in standby in about half an hour. After the procedure, lost about 2 percent in standby overnight.

I have an iPad 4 and I noticed the battery drain you are talking about after iOS 9.2 b4 but it's not like how you described it, (it drains faster but definitely not like 10-20% every 2 minutes, I'm sure apple will fix it soon, I've had this bug with iOS 9.1 when it came out but it was fixed. I've heard it exists on iPhone 5 too which means that this bug affected all A6 devices.

After updating a few days ago I at first noticed worse battery life. Then suddenly yesterday I had an incident where I had 60% drain in 2 hours just leaving the phone on the table. That's the first time that has every happened with my iPhone 6S that I got back in late September. Obviously it's a combination of some bad app(Youtube?) and iOS 9.2.

Fix this Apple, this is unacceptable for your flagship.

Holy crap man, that's the whole point of doing a reset to restore from iCloud backup. Last thing I want is to start a totally new layout and re-download apps and re-create my folders.

I read that iCloud backups can be problematic. I always backup to my MBP to avoid those complications.

I had no issue restoring my iPad Mini from iCloud backup yesterday.

Check if your data usage on celular is increasing too much whilst on standby and report.

It's nearly the same on wifi and cellular. I did an iTunes restore as new this morning and left my phone alone for a few hours. I had then reinstalled most of my apps and the battery has been doings lot better; interestingly enough, this is on default settings with all the battery draining options turned on (ex: Background App Refresh, Location Services, etc.)

Sometimes there's a bug with iCloud handshaking and data leak, that's why it seems weird. iCloud Drive disabled + celullar usage OFF was my issue. I turned it on with cellular off and it was fine, but you can also log off of iCloud and try to see if it's fixed.

I think you've diagnosed your problem. Some setting went back to its default state and is running hardware that wasn't running before you did the reset. I'd comb through Settings and make sure the usual suspects are set the way you had them set up originally.

I had stated earlier that I put my phone back to my preferred settings...

Update: After a number of days with this odd battery draining and going through a number of things to fix it, a simple hard reboot did the trick. Seems like something must have been running in the background after the update and just never stopped. I'm sure some people have tried this already with no success, but maybe this will help someone else too.

Nothing did the trick until I reverted back to 9.1. This was a major FAIL by Apple. Broken trust on OS updates now. I also hate that I can't dismiss the 9.2 update reminder for like 30 days. They are going to pester me every single f-en day to install an update that nearly bricked my phone.

I had a jail broken iPhone 6 that I backed up into my MBP. I restored it into my new iPhone 6s Plus on 9.2. The drain was really bad. I think because my previous iPhone was jail broken it might have had some corrupt files that lead to the drain.

I restored the 6s Plus and set up as new and then added my apps. I had a ton of app so that gave me the incentive to cull them. I went from 175 apps to 137 apps.

The battery drain is gone. On the first full charge I got 7.7 SOT, 12 hours usage and 27 hrs stand by. I am impressed.
