iOS 9.2 beta 3 still feels sluggish on my iPad mini 2 unless reduced transparency is on

I mean, really? After all that's been said and done how come slightly older devices suffer this much from iOS 9? I know this is still a beta and in all honesty, it's not as bad as it was... But I just don't see it getting any better.

App switching still doesn't feel as snappy as iOS 8.1.4... Same happens when I click on safari's address tab and it pulls my favourite's list.. There's a sluggishness that just doesn't feel natural .

Anyone experiencing the same on this particular device (or even on the ipad mini 3, considering it's the same device with a fancy home button...)

Apple Music also feels extremely sluggish when scrolling on an artist's page..

It's a bit more fluid for me than the previous versions, but the 1GB RAM renders it unusable sometimes.. I just switched over from an article opened via Twitter to SoundCloud to change songs quickly - only to see my Twitter app completely reload and go back to the top of the timeline -.-

I have an iPad mini 2 and have the exact issues. I have been scolded by other members here for complaining about how laggy iOS 9 is even on iOS 9.2 beta 3. Others have said it is totally fine/there are no issues, or I am picking out the tiny details just to find fault in Apple. These aren't tiny details! This is an entire daily interaction performing awfully.

I wish I could post a video and/or had the ability to pull exact frame rates off the device but I don't feel like setting up a public YouTube channel for that, and I can't do the frame rate thing. 9.2 is NOT perfect yet. Better than before, but Apple can't stop now...

I feel like 9.2b2 was better than 9.2b3, or exactly the same, depending on the situation. I've made so many reports to Apple about this, they are ignored. Extremely frustrating.

Sorry for double post but I just wanted to add this, with the app switcher I've noticed that sometimes it is near perfect, I use it and it's like "Wow. That was about as good as my iPhone 6" which is pretty good with the switcher on 9.2.

Like I can go in and out of apps, scroll by the home screen, go to the home screen, etc and it is all pretty smooth (could be a tiny bit better but it's good enough where I can't complain much anymore) but other times everything is horrible. I don't know why this happens, I don't know how to reproduce it. My iPhone 6 acts the same way with control center. Sometimes it stutters, other times it is comparable to 8.4.1 with little reason as to why. Using it in the same area and everything. Spotlight even can be similar on my mini 2 wi the keyboard popping up, if I swipe fast enough sometimes it pops up perfectly smooth, if I swipe slow the keyboard stutters. I really hope this means Apple can make things perform smoothly all the time, because this tells me that the device is very well capable, the software is just shoddy.

I just don't get why Apple won't allow us to downgrade easily. If they're senseless enough to allow older devices to use new upgrades, they should at least give people the option to go back.

Got a mini 2 too. runs on 9.1. running ok after clean install. BUT. Apple still gotta work more hard on iOS 9 and improve it more in the minor updates. on iPhone 4. 7.1 made a step up in terms of performence. why cant they do that on iOS 9 :/

And 9.1 is different than 7.1. 9.1 was focused on Apple TV 4 support and iPad Pro support. It also was released much earlier than 7.1, which for the record, was actually focused on making things better unlike 9.1. 7.1 came out like 6 or 7 months after iOS 7.0, and it was in beta for 4 or 5 months, so lots of work was put into optimizing the OS. 9.1 was out like a month after 9.0, and was only in beta for about that same amount of time.

So both updates were x.1, but they had totally different focuses and amounts of effort put into optimization.

Yes thats right. hmmm what about 9.2. hope its a step up this time from 9.1. on my 6 plus though, in app switcher. i feel a great improvement from 9.0.2 lagged alot before

9.2 is much better on my mini 2 for app switcher but it still sucks to be honest lol.. I've seen it on a 6 plus too from what I saw it was perfect, but I didn't use it much so take it with a grain of salt.

We got a ipad 4 in our house. have tried it. runs ok on 9.1, still a long way for a stable iOS 9. 9.3 just have to be good

I just think it's awful how the iPhone 5 and iPad mini 1 run smoother than my iPad mini 2. It may be faster at loading things up but animations are much smoother on the older devices.

I actally agree with that. iphone 4s runs even better than my 6 plus+ mini 2 tbh
