Prior to the upgrade I backed up my iPhone on iCloud and not on iTunes unfortunately. After the upgrade I saw in the iCloud settings that my storage was nearly empty, only Mail was using some space. Is this back up lost? Now I'm backing up on iCloud but I'm already on iOS 9. I don't have an intention to downgrade but if something happen, if the phone have to be erased after a big bug for example. Or if I lose it, will it be possible to get this new back up restored to another device? the new device would have to run the beta ios9 too i assume. Is that possible somehow?
thank you.
-Now it says that the back up cannot be done. and last back up date the one's that was on 8.4 ...
what is better. to downgrade and restore that back up. Or just wait and nothing bad will happen until september. I'm afraid not to lose photos and messages.

You should always backup to iTunes before installing a beta.

iCloud backup works for me. It auto backs up to the cloud when I'm on wifi and plugged into the charger. My last one was made yesterday (Friday) and I've had iOS 9 since Thursday morning. You can see in the image it shows yesterday.

(I also made a 8.4 backup on my computer in iTunes before installing)

It started backing up on the cloud but after about 2 hours (big size) it stopped. I tried again but the same thing happened. Is it possible that the 8.4 back up still exists and don't show in the size meter? And I can't make a know one because there is not enough "real" space?
I'm lost

I've been using the iOS 9 Public beta on an iPad Mini 2. I noticed that iTunes for the Mac 12.2.1 does not show the iCloud backup time information that I can see on the iPad.

Under iOS 8.4 the timestamp on the iPad almost instantly appeared in iTunes of the Mac. Yes, I have provided this feedback to Apple via the beta app.

Has anybody else noticed the timestamp disconnect in the iOS 9 beta?

Yes I have noticed the same. It has thrown me off a couple of times. Yet, another bug. Patiently waiting for beta 4.

I am unable to backup to iCloud from my iPhone 6 running latest beta. I am guessing this is a bug - lucky we've all backed up to iTunes before using the beta right? ;)

I noticed that automatic iCloud backups work fine on my 5S, but manual backups just won't complete.

Taking a look at the diagnostic logs when I sent my feedback I noticed something interesting...
The very first thing in the backupd log is:
"is_simulated":true

Looking a little further down:
Exception Note: SIMULATED (this is NOT a crash)

I use iTunes for syncing and have my old iPhone 5 (now iPod touch) and iPad Mini (1st gen.) on the public beta program...

the iPhone 5 backs up fine
the iPad Mini has not backed up and, in fact, because of this, is having syncing issues.

I sent feedback from the mini, so, hopefully apple will fix this with a 2nd beta release, or, I may have to go back to 8.4 on the Mini.

• FYI: I hope all of you read the instructions and made an Archive backup before putting iOS 9 on your device, that way you can restore back to 8.4 if necessary.

I updated my iPad Mini (1st gen.) to the new public beta 2 of iOS 9 and was able to then sync and backup via iTunes without issue! :) ...so, if you're still having issues w/backup, go to software update first, do the new update, then try backing up.

I've just installed Public Beta 2 on my 6+ and iCloud backup is working as advertised. It failed the first manual attempt, but took the second try. I checked my iCloud storage and it has both my 8.4 backup, as well as my 9 PB2 backup.

where did you check this?

my storage seems to have been sorted out and all the mysterious used space is no longer used and i can back up to iCloud again.

must have been a backend fix

I would suggest u backup on iTunes right now. So that in future if u find a bug and u have to downgrade, at least ur info won't go.. And then if the bug is fixed in any of the betas ahead, u can restore from the previous backup and still not loose any info...

I checked under Settings>General>Storage & iCloud Usage>Manage Storage (iCloud)

I have noticed my manual backups work fine, but my phone won't automatically backup now. I'm not going to worry about it since it's beta software and I already have good backups, though.
