iOS 9 backup didn't transfer iMessages?

Going through the setup process I chose to backup from iCloud and only my apps have downloaded back, I haven't got any of my messages?

I've backed up from iCloud before and messages always go straight on. My iCloud settings are fine, the messages are definitely getting backed up.

Should I erase my iPhone and attempt to restore it again?

I'm seeing this same issue on my new iPhone 6s. Tried reset and restore from icloud back a number of times and the result is the same... no messages. Help, anyone?!

I've finally found a solution, but it isn't perfect. I basically reset and then restored doing backwards in time so like trying to recover from 6th October backup, if it doesn't work try the 5th October etc etc. One of the backups worked and it was late September. It was a backup I made on my old iPhone so it may be a bug with iCloud backups made on the iPhone 6s. Hope you get yours sorted
