iOS 9 Battery Life

hi, I have an iPhone 6. Prior to iOS 9 I could leave my phone in standby all day and it would only drop to 99%.

After upgrading to iOS 9 Something is draining my battery. Even with the battery saving feature turned on I am losing at least 10% battery life on the same test.

I have tried turning location services off, but still no luck.

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated

Did you check in settings > battery to see what app is using the most battery?

I'm sorry, but iOS isn't magical either. Although it does a really good job managing power on standby, t still consumes a fair amount of power. I could see 4-6% drop every few hours on standby.

Your expectations are way too high.

Well, maybe if it's in airplane mode with only WiFi on...my 6+ would likely only drain 1% like that.

I'm in the same situation. With iOS 8, my iPhone 6 would not drain almost any battery in standby. I could leave the phone on my desk for hours and at the most 1% would be lost. Now with iOS 9, standby battery drain has increased substantially, and I have no idea what drains the battery since I do shut down all apps in launcher.

You should be seeing a 10% drop per 24 hours of standby.

I suspected some iOS versions were misreporting battery early cycle of I'm honest. Like it can take 30 mins to drop from 100% to 99% but when you hit 70% your down to 50% in no time.

I would judge a full 24 light use cycle instead.

My overall battery life on a 6 Plus is pretty much the same 8 vs. 9. The reported drain rate (per display %) is a bit different. I suspect it is how the OS is reporting the battery percent.

I'm having the same issue.
Battery drain on my 6 under iOS8 when on standby was negligible. Within expected limits.
Under iOS9 I have to take every opportunity to plug the phone in to charge. Dropping probably around 15 to 20% per hour in stand-by. Battery life has gone from quite good to absolutely terrible since the update from 8 to 9.
I'll see if I can be a bit more accurate in testing this tomorrow as I'll be at my desk all day.

Yes, 10% drop per 24 hours, right now I see 10% drop in 1.5 hours of standby sometimes.

Yeah, my battery seems to have taken a hit with iOS 9 despite its claims of better battery. Usually, I would shrug it off as a consequence of upgrading to a new OS. But this is a different story because Apple made iOS 9 with battery and optimization as the big thing for this update. Which means, if these things aren't fulfilled, then you may as well slap us in the face and call us foolzzzz. I know everyone's phones are different, taking into account usage as well, but I am a light user and I am seeing battery last shorter hours than it did on iOS 8. Along with the lag and stutters, I feel this is unacceptable. But then again, it's only 9.0.2. I really do hope Apple gets everything straightened out AT LEAST by the last iteration of iOS 9. I probably won't be updating to iOS 10, and I feel no one with a 6 and under should either because I feel that iOS 10 + (even iOS 9) is going to be focused on maximizing the newer iPhones' 2 GB RAM hardware as opposed to the 1 GB RAM. So I have made up my mind that 9 should be the last for 1GB RAM decides, unless you wanna see slowdowns due to lack of RAM.

EDIT: And as an example, my iPad 2 does not have 1 GB of RAM, and man is it **** on these newer OSs. I have no one to blame but myself for this though. But iOS 9 is all on Apple. FOSHO.

At first w/iOS9, my battery was junk. Would drop from 100% to 90-93% while I was still in bed -- as soon as I took it off the charger while checking my emails/news in the morning.

Then, magically, it stopped doing that. I could check everything I usually do in bed in the AM and it would stay at 100% or go down to 99% only. This is "normal" for my iPhone 6.

Just in the last 2 days though, I've seen it fall from something like 38% down to 19% INSTANTLY. I mean, I pick it up and see it's at, for example, 38% and then I use it for a minute and get the "do you want to enter power saving mode" prompt. I look and the battery is at 18 or 19%!

I'm wondering if the problem is how iOS 9 measures the battery life. I don't think anything has drastically changed w/my battery -- but I've NEVER seen the instant fall in percentage like the last 2 days. I'm going to do a couple of drain/fill cycles over the next 2 days and see if it gets any better....

Which, with Apple's claims of up to an hour of extra battery life from iOS 9, is extremely disappointing to hear but does seem to be the most common experience.

Maybe when Apple claimed up to an extra hour of battery life with iOS 9 it was talking about up to an extra hour of standby life ... "iOS 9 increases iPhone 6 Plus standby time from up-to-384-hours to up-to-385-hours". Hmm.
