Do ou guys think we will see them the same day? There have been numerous rumors that 8.4 will launch soon, probably around WWDC with a revamped music app. However, Apple has always released the first beta of their next version of iOS that same day too. Do you guys think 8.4 will publicly drop on June 8th and us devs will also get the beta that day too?

Sorry, IM SUPER PUMPED FOR IOS 9!!!

If I were to guess. We'll see a final 8.4 beta (4 for devs and 3 for public) tomorrow, with a release on the 7th or 8th.

Now for iOS 9 beta. I would imagine the dev beta will start either same time as the event or about two weeks after. The public beta following at least a couple weeks after that. (Public seems to usually start 2-4 weeks after the initial dev beta.)

I'm pumped for iOS 9 beta also. (I'm in the public beta for OS X and iOS.)

I think that iOS 8.4 will be released this Monday and as well as apples iOS developers will see the first iOS 9 beta right after WWDC 2015.

Usually Apple releases a "Developer Preview" of an OS at WWDC.

The actual "Beta .1.2345 etc" would come out maybe a month after any Developer Preview.

My guess is IOS 8.4 and OS X 10.10.4 will be released Monday after the Keynote.

Generally whatever Apple releases after/at WWDC is considered developer beta 1.

No, he's right. Well, you're both right.

He was talking about the confusing difference between Developer Preview 1 and Public Beta 1 (which ended up being like Developer Preview 4 last year with Yosemite).

Sarcasmville.
In addition, the term 'Developer Preview' was only for OS X. iOS betas were just called 'beta'. All signs point to Apple Music being announced at the keynote so 8.4 would have to drop with it.

I'll be installing the betas of either typically as soon as the first reports are out as to their stability.

Historically speaking what comes out for Developers AT WWDC is almost always called a Developer Preview.

Developer Preview 1 , 2, 3, 4 etc. can be listed on ADC for several months.

The corresponding Public or limited private ( invite only ) Beta or Appleseed is called Beta 1, 2,3 etc. while the Developer Preview of the same build can be called Dev. Preview 1 ,2, 3, 4. etc. But in past history the first Dev Preview was given to developers at WWDC . Usually placed under the chairs of attendees. My guess is now they just give you a url to download it.

It's been that way for the 15 years I've been a member of ADC.

[edit] sammich is correct. Earlier they used to just send you DVD's in the mail.

I am just talking about OS X btw :)

Up until a couple years ago only registered, paid developers could download betas of IOS.

Well, public betas are really a new thing for iOS, so none of that has happened for anything related to iOS from WWDC so far.

Simple. We'll see iOS 8.4 and iOS 9 beta 1 today. It's just what times they'll be released. I think iOS 8.4 will be released during the conference and iOS 9 will be released after the event.

Stop speculating. Apple will release whatever number beta they want and nothing is worth talking about until Apple announces it on-stage.
Nothing about the future was mentioned or implied, just observations referencing past.

Nice try though. /s

Well so much for getting iOS 8.4 today, its now rumored to be released at the end of June....

Still a chance for final release. Just without :apple:Music activated. Could have an advertisement panel.

Or another beta, with it active for public beta testers. Be kind of sweet if we ended up getting a 4mo free trial as a result.

I will take screenshots of anything you are interested in seeing, once it has installed.

My enrollment expired yesterday.

I haven't re-enrolled, trying now but Apple's website not going through the enrollment menu :(
