Hi all,

I tried searching for similar threads for this issue, but didn't turn up any results, so hopefully this isn't a repeat question. My partner has iOS 9 installed on his 6+ and noticed some unusually high data usage, upwards of 3-4 gigs in one day. The first time this happened was a couple of weeks ago, but usage seemed to normalize. The most recent incident was today.

We have a couple other devices shared with our data plan on the iOS 9 beta, but so far, his 6+ is the only device affected.

The only thing that seemed out of the ordinary was high system settings usage in the cellular data menu. He's since reset the statistics to monitor the problem.

Has anyone else had a similar issue on AT&T (or other carriers?).

I haven't seen numbers quite that high, but I'm on Verizon and for the last few months my data has been about 40%-ish higher than normal. At first I thought it was Facebook, since Verizon breaks down how your data is being used and my social networking category was taking up a lot. But I have since turned off cellular data for Facebook and my usage is still higher than normal. I'm not sure if this is an iOS 8.4 thing that maybe carried over to iOS Public Beta but I definitely notice an increase in data usage without changing any of my habits.

Yes I have att and think that the almost 20gb I went through last month is definitely because of ios9. Although I do have to say I have been using Apple Music a lot but it should not be anywhere near 20gb.

I've seen usage of 5GB in 10 days, which is massively higher than my usual data usage on my commute. I simply can't explain how I could have used that much data. This is with iOS9 beta latest.

I've now turned off "Wifi Assist" (it was set to on), and stopped all apps using mobile data, except those apps I really do use.

I had this problem running the betas on my iPad Air 2 and my 6 Plus. Chewed through 9 gb of data in just a few days, with normal usage. Went back to 8.4 and it stopped. Makes me nervous to run iOS 9 when it gets officially released, especially since there are two other devices on the family plan that will be running it then along with mine. I don't think I should have to go through each device getting picky with settings just to keep them from eating up my decent sized 15gb family share plan. We should just be able to update and use the devices without tinkering.

Do you guys have sending diagnostics data enabled (Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & Usage) ?

Yes, I had it enabled on the betas but also right now on 8.4.1. Do you think that is causing it? Maybe since it's a beta more diagnostic data is being transferred than on 8.4?

Really I don't know, maybe if some debugging is enabled in the betas, it generates more diagnostics logs. Try to disable it to see if you still have high data usage

Go to settings > privacy > location services > system services and turn off all of the boxes in product improvement and frequent locations

Hi all,

I downloaded the new update to my iPhone just the other day. My Hughsnet resets itself on the fifteenth of each month and that gives me 15GB. I am not a video junkie, I do not play video games online or download movies to watch. Since the 22nd or 23rd I lost 6.1GB. It shows high data use and download use. I turned off my phone about thirty minutes ago and my status meter has quit declining. I'm at 59% right now and holding.

Now, I am just looking for the loophole to re-install iOS8. I depend on the internet to use my cellphone at home since my carrier signal is 1x and I do not have a landline telephone.

I hope this helps.
