I'm half and half on which thread to post, whether on the iOS 9 thread or the Apple Watch. I am currently running iOS 9 Public Beta 2. If I were to downgrade back to iOS 8.4 would I have to unpair my Apple Watch from my iPhone and then re-pair when my iPhone is running iOS 8.4 or is it safe to downgrade without any effect on the Apple Watch?

Assuming you run watchOS 1.0.1 due to the fact you use iOS 9 PB, downgrading your phone, as long as you do not do a restore, will not have any impact on your watch.

I figured this was the case, but to confirm, if you have a backup of iOS 9 there is not a way to restore your activity from your watch to iOS 8? An iCloud vs iTunes backup wouldn't matter?

Yeah, once you're on iOS 9; you're stuck if you want to keep your backup data up to date. Whenever you wipe your phone, your watch will unpair if it's close by. If it's not in range of the phone, they just won't talk to each other until you repair to the phone.

You used to be able to use iBackupbot to restore sms messages, any ideas if it still works and if you could transfer your iHealth/Activity data? I'm assuming because you do the encrypted backup that it wouldn't work.

I wondered about this myself but I could never figure out where that data was saved. I used to do the process with messages but that's pretty straightforward.
