General iOS 9 GM on the A5 devices.

I have been digging through the threads here for quite a few hours now looking to see what the consensus is, but please excuse making yet another thread if it bothers you. I've read the sticky concerning performance and features along with pretty much everything else here (thanks search).

I'm just wondering how iOS 9 GM has been performing on the original iPad Mini and iPhone 4S. Both are equipped with the A5. I would really appreciate any feedback from people that own the devices and have tried, rather than third or second hand accounts. Currently I'm running iOS 8.4.1 on both devices with no problems. I don't need things to be lightning fast, so I guess that would be a good gauge of the speed I'm used to. They're definitely not lightning fast like back in the day, but the point is they're still usable and retain an acceptable battery life.

I'm contemplating a clean install of iOS9 on both devices. Thank for any info.

iPhone 4s is my only phone, thus my daily driver as well.

Performance is decent in my experience. There is noticeable lag in some places, but it is no worse than with iOS 8. Battery life on the other hand is fantastic.Even when connected to my Bluetooth headphones, listening to music for about 2 hours total on and off, I can usually make it through a day (8am to ~4pm) with 30-40% left. On the occasion that I do hit 20%, I enable Low Power Mode and can normally get between 1.5-3 hours more out of the battery. It helps that I can usually count on being able to plug in by 5pm at the very latest, even if only for a few minutes.

Also, the iPad 2 is an A5 device as well.

I'm running iOS 9 on my iPad 3 (A5X but still pretty similar due to the Retina display). I don't see any difference in performance from iOS 8.4, meaning it's just as laggy as before.

Yea. iPad 3rd gen really laggy since ios 7. Only bad apple device I have ever had.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I will be updating upon release.

I found a useful YouTube video comparing two iPhone 4S models side by side. One is on iOS 8.4.1 while the other is on iOS 9 GM. Seems the most pronounced delay is simply booting. Everything else looks acceptable.

You're very welcome. I'm sure Apple will be glad to hear that!

Please, let us know how it goes once you do update. Keep in mind that if you aren't satisfied, there's always a slight window of time where you can downgrade back to the previous version, 8.4.1 in this case.
