Howdy!

I had no problems w/ the iOS 9 upgrade on my iPhone 5 until I access my contacts. I have hundred and keep them organized in groups.

Well, the groups are no longer listed in alphabetical order but are hopelessly scrambled.

Anybody have a fix?

Rebooting the device has not worked. I may blank-reset the device tonight, but am hoping for a less drastic solution.

THANKS!

iCloud sync for contacts? No need to reset the device. When I've run into some odd Contacts/Reminders/Calendar issues, just wiping the data on the device and re-syncing with iCloud usually clears the issue.

Just first go to the iCloud.com website and do a spot check to make sure everything there looks OK. Then turn off iCloud for Contacts on the device, opt for the "remove from device" option. Give it a minute, turn back on.

ADD: noticed my Contacts on iPhone is doing same thing. Once alphabetical for groups, but no longer. All looks good in iCloud. Tried the off/on thing and not fixed.

I'm having the same issue and am very upset. But I can't find any chatter about this anywhere. Why is there not more people talking about this... ?

I don't use groups but found that I'm getting random addresses appear in my contacts!

May delete and re sync

I resorted to downloading the Groups app by Qbix to get my groups in order. Hopefully Apple takes care of this oversight soon.

My guess is that some people are not aware the Contacts app can do Groups as well. When I showed a few coworkers what the iOS9 update had done to my Groups, they were all surprised that a groups function even existed.

Wow! If I didn't use groups my contact list would be unusable. I have well over a thousand contacts. Yes, Apple needs to fix this FAST. This is very un-Apple like...

I would guess that most people just have pesonal contact lists of maybe a hundred or two or so personal contacts and that's mostly it.

Have you checked the Contacts/Calendars section in settings to see how its listed for sorting?

I have had this issue all through the iOS9 betas and again with the GM
How is it possible for Apple to know about this from the betas and not get it fixed. I would expect this from Microsoft but not Apple. Is Apple diverting too much effort to their watch and ignoring their core businesses???

OH no!!! 9.0.1 just loaded and I looked with baited breath to see whether Apple had fixed this very troublesome error. Alas, they did not!!!!!!!! Come on Apple. This is much bigger to me than those other minor issues you fixed. Please fix this issue of not having Contact Groups in alphabetical order and DO IT SOON!!

Or, does anyone have a fix for this? It's driving me crazy...

I just downloaded this app. First, the imposition of ads makes this app only usable if you pay the $4 minimum. Wow, I've never seen so many ads... Second, while it immediately found all my groups (and kept them all in the the same random order IOS9 put them in) but I could not find a quick way to reorder my existing groups. Can Groups do this?

Didn't see an option to sort groups, just the entries.

I had hopes that 9.0.1 would have a fix. Dang-it! <grin>

Just saw in another group that 9.2 BETA (not the public bete) apparently fixes this.

So, we gotta wait until the right Tuesday comes along.

This is not good. 9.0.2 just came out and it also has failed to solve this issue. How long do we have to wait?? Come on Apple; this is very important!!!!!

Looks like the .2 update fixed this, at least for me. All groups are now sorted in alphabetical order. Did nothing special other than do the update.

It took care of my "Groups" issue as well. About time. Other than that, not too much else I've noticed either.
