In the iOS 9 native News App, it seems like there are quite a bit of ads in the "For you" tab

It wasn't there initially when I was using the beta, but it's been popping out like mad for every 2-3 news with big block of ads showing.

It's ridiculously ugly and annoying. Why would they even put ads into native app in first place?

Wow, that looks really bad. I didn’t realise Apple intended to show such poor ads even on the main view of the app. I don’t see any ads in News yet but if that’s where it’s going to end up then I will not use News for sure.

Why are you so surprised about the ads? From Apple's perspective the whole point of the News app is to pull ad revenue into their ecosystem.

While allow ad-block for Safari? That sounds like a hypocrite right there...

Apple doesn't have a foothold in web advertising. By pulling everyone into the News app they can force iAd on everyone.

They didn't allow ad blocking on the web out of the goodness of their hearts. They are weak on the web and strong in mobile apps, so they are trying to shift the balance in their favor. Of course there will be no ad blocking for iAds ...

I am ok if they need to make some revenue with ads, but at the same time it shouldn't be this frequently on the feeds and put up a giant ads logo on top. It's ridiculously annoying and ugly...

I'm currently not seeing any ads in my feed, but it probably depends on what you read. I agree that your example is pretty bad.

Personally I hate to see Apple going down this road. Soon there will be no platforms left that respect our privacy. Google and Facebook live on tracking and datamining us, Microsoft is stepping it up big time in Windows 10, and now Apple seems to be following along too with increased iAds targeting. They claim not to link the ad targeting in News to other services (like iCloud email etc.) yet, but if iAd keeps growing, it may not be long before they change their tune ...

Since I started using Apple News, I have only seen like 4 ads since iOS 9 came out, as of writing this comment. They need to make them look better, they feel like they just show up and don't even look appealing.
