iOS 9 Notes on iOS 8 devices?

For those with multiple iOS devices, what happens with notes created in iOS 9 Notes when viewed on iOS 8? Does it work at all? Does iOS 8 somehow magically ignore the new features like checklists?

I'm thinking of trying iOS 9 on my iPad when the public beta is released. I don't want to risk it on my iPhone yet, so I want to run both iOS 8 and 9 together (and stay on 10.10 on my Mac until El Cap is out of beta). It may sound esoteric but Notes is one of my favorite updates to iOS 9 and OS X 10.11, so I can't wait to try it.

iOS9 is coming to all devices that can run iOS8 so this is irrelevant from a normal user's POV.

I meant for beta testing purposes, as in I want to install the beta on my iPad but not on my iPhone. What happens to Notes then? When the final version comes out in the fall, of course I'll upgrade all my devices.

Don't upgrade your notes and you'll be fine for the time-being but won't be able to access current notes until 10.11 & iOS 9 is official.

That being said, this could be a problem because I imagine the general public will face with the same situation in the future.

It asks you to "convert" to iOS 9 notes when you open it for the first time then I believe it said the iOS 9 notes would only be available to see on the iOS 9/10.11 devices.

Yeah... My iPad is on iOS 9 while my iPhone is on iOS 8.1.2. I didn't update to iCloud Notes on my iPad... Didn't want to risk both iPad & iPhone notes to be deleted.

And it won't sync between the two since iOS 9 Notes is such a drastic change.
