If anyone knows a way around these two issues, or can at least help me take care of them in a way that does not involve 6 or more hours, I'd love to hear from you. It's really bothering me that it's keeping me from ever jail breaking again.

Ahh gotcha. This is a deal breaker for me. It takes hours to backup in iTunes. I've backed up in iCloud ever since that option became available. I guess there is a reason I've not jailbroken since iOS 4. I guess this means I'll never be able to jailbreak again. This makes me sad. =(

Why does it take 6 hours? Just plug into iTunes and do a restore. Once that is done, JB and then restore from your iCloud back up.

weird. a iTunes back up should be way faster than a iCloud backup. also you can just restore to 9.0.2 in iTunes and then restore from your iCloud backup

in my case iTunes: 5 minutes
iCloud: 2+ hours

I'm willing to give this a shot again to see if it's quicker now. It's been AGES since I've tried. Assuming it is quick, how exactly does the process you describe work? Since I've not jailbroken since iOS 4, and never with a current OTA update already in the device, I'm unsure of the steps to do this. Also, thanks a TON for your help on this! You rock!

Good question, my Youtube app updated on it's own even though I have auto updates off. Did you download it from the Apple store after your JB or did you restore it from a backup? If I delete YT from my phone and then add it back on with my saved older version in iTunes. It applies the old app, but by the next day, it updates to the new version again by itself. This is non Jailbroken.

i did not restore, just downloaded right from the app store.

Well dang it, apparently last time I backed up using iTunes I encrypted the backup and I have no clue what the password is. So now I can't uncheck encrypt backup to make a new un encrypted backup...

EDIT: finally remember password.

Does this work?

Jailbreak my iPad (it's 2 years old anyway)

Get some cool JB'd apps on my iPad.

SYNC the JB'd apps to my iTunes.

Sync the JB'd apps from my iTunes to my iPhone 6s

Would this work?

Aha! Apparently I only THOUGHT I upgraded to 9.0.2 on my iPad OTA. BUT ACTUALLY I'm still on 9.0.1!!! Thankfully..... I'll still have to use the work around for my iPhone 6 plus if I do decide to jailbreak it instead.

Thanks for the quick reply, but how can I update the device when it's already updated. I guess I'm just confused on how to go about this without loosing all my data.

Simple.

Hit up a site like iClarified or iDownloadblog and search for the links to the full IPSW for your iOS device.

download the iOS version needed. (remember the location of the folder where you downloaded it.)

Start iTunes. plug in your iOS device.

hold down the option key (alt if using Windows), while clicking on "Restore iPhone". A dialog box should show up.

Migrate to the directory you download the IPSW, and select it.

Boom. you're done. your iOS device will now use the full IPSW to restore your phone, instead of OTA.

Thanks! I REALLY appreciate this. I will use this to jailbreak my iPhone. Thankfully my iPad had not been updated yet so to jailbreak it I just need to update to 9.0.2 in iTunes correct?

Depends. do you absolutely need 9.0.2 on it? What version of iOS is it currently using? And more importantly, was it updated to that via OTA? If the latter is yes, then you need to full upgrade to IOS 9.0.2. That you can do via iTunes.

If that answer is no, then there may already be a jailbreak tool available for your version of iOS. decide if you need 9.0.2 before jumping to it first, then assess your options.

Yea I already have 9.0.1 installed on it and it was via OTA. That's why I need to update to 9.0.2 via iTunes

EDIT: I'm doing the restore and update as suggested in order to update to 9.0.2, then jailbreak then restore from backup.

There seems to be confusion if we should restore our data from backup
After the fresh install of 9.0.2 OR after the jailbreak itself. Anyone know?

Wow everything went without a hitch! Got the jailbreak done and it works! Now I'm restoring from my backup. iTunes is telling it it will take 40 minutes. Looks like that will be the longest wait of the whole ordeal! Thanks everyone so much for your help and answers to my questions! This is one of the most helpful threads I've been in!

Nice you got it done without issues. I was hoping to get it done today, but had other things to tend to.

Adblockers not working with this Jailbreak? i got an iPad Air 2 and i tried all three adblockers that i have on my iPhone 6 (no jailbreak) but i still see ads. It even lets me access Bild.de which blocks people with adblockers from entering their site so clearly it isnt working as it should. hmmm weird

Bit of an odd one but since I haven't jailbroken a device since the 3gs its probably something I'm missing

I've jailbroken the same 5s 16gb about 10 times now with Pangu 9 on 9.0.2 both with all my data and as a new iPhone but no matter what I do the apps I install from cydia just open and crash out, kodi, mobileterminal, everything

all I'm doing is installing the JB, then cydia substrate then apps and it does the same thing

only other issue I'm getting is a low storage error for the sys part, even on the clean install

lil help? :)

When I had my 6 Jailbroken, I used the tweak Untrusted Hosts Blocker. When that is updated to ios9, I would use that one ;) Official repo: http://repo.thireus.com

the tweaks need to be updated to support iOS 9 first. until then it will crash or put your phone into a bootloop. theres another thread with a google sheet showing all the working tweaks. also that low storage error should have gone away the first time you opened cydia. did u let it do its thing?

I just found your list and come to think of it I did download iFile and it did work which is on the list. looks like you may be right. :)
I can probably get rid of the low disc errors once MobileTerminal is supported and I can start carving chunks out of the OS :)
