Upon updating my iPad, went to open the notes app. I was prompted with an informational screen about the changes, however after clicking "ok", it only lists the notes that I've created in the last two days. Everything prior to that is gone.

I still have a copy of all them on my Mac, but was wondering if anyone had this issue?

I had the samething turns out for me at least if you have multiple email accounts each email account gets its own Notes account. It was set to show Notes from an email account I don't have or use any notes for.

Should have mentioned I already did the typical troubleshooting (rebooting the iPad, disabling notes in iCloud and re-enabling, etc)... Still no luck.

Notes between my iPad, iPhone, and iCloud.com are all the same. It only shows notes from the last two days. They all sync with each other. However, on my Mac, it still has all of my notes, however when updating or creating a new note on my Mac, it does not show up anywhere else.

Same here!
I mass moved hundreds of notes from various accounts and local to my iphone directly into the main iCloud account, all from my iPhone.
A couple of days later I had to logout from my iCloud account and log in again. Not an issue then, at least I didn't check mt notes.
A few more days later, this evening I check my notes: only 5 instead of 500+. Only those I cerated post iOS 9 upgrade.

My 41 notes appeared on my iPhone but only 15 of them were on my iPad. Further, when I try to send a note by mail the type zooms on both the iPhone and iPad. I've spent about three hours on two different days with a senior Apple technician, but it's still an open case.

Can I go back to the old notes??
Ditto. Anyone think having all my notes stored in iCloud is the best option? I don't have enough room to have it on my iOS devices.
*I don't like this updated Notes, all my notes aren't updated and synced like before. They used to update on all devices even if i typed it on my MacBook, iPad, or iPhone. Now it doesn't do that.

I also hate the little preview line under the title when viewing a folder. Wish that could be turned off

This kind of problem makes me doubt my commitment to Apple. If they cannot reliably backup plain ASCII text, it makes me really concerned that their management has completely lost touch with its customers. They seem concerned about creating bugs which force us to buy iCloud storage subscriptions. I stopped using Macs in 1995, when Apple similarly had lost touch with its customers. A lot of people did, and the company nearly went bankrupt. It could happen again. It starts when the management stops having concern for their product quality and the customer's experience.

I am in total agreement. All of these updates etc,.. just keep messing up what was a decent system. I have now lost 2 years worth of notes for work! I reference my material often and now I no longer have access to all of that information. this is horrible! I am so upset with apple right now, and it is apparent I'm not the only person. So infuriating!

I thought I had lost my notes on my MBP after updating to El Capitan. These were my options. Under iCloud tabs, I only had about 15 notes in there, but when I clicked on the Gmail notes, they are all there. I am afraid to click on that update button  Here is a screen shot from my phone as well.

Yes, they deleted all my notes! I think they are trying to force everyone to use iCloud, but I don't want to because I lost everything before when I used it. For all the perks with Apple, this is one thing I hate about them: They limit our choices.

I can't swear to it, but I'm pretty sure all my notes survived the transition to iOS 9 and the iPhone 6S (in that order). However, when I opened notes on my macbook for the first time since El Capitan, I was asked to turn on notes in iCloud settings, then to upgrade to the new notes. When I did both of those things, I had no notes. I checked my phone, but they were gone from there as well. Anyone have any luck recovering their lost notes?

I've been running IOS 9.x on iPhone 5 for a while now, and have been keeping up with Apple's frequent updates.

So I finally got brave (foolhearty?) enough to press the magic "upgrade" button for the notes,
and OH NO! WHERE DID MY NOTES GO??? All 2550 of them under "FROM MY PC"???
(I'm not as worried about the ones linked to e-mail acounts.)

It hasn't been that long since I synced with my PC - I'm in Windows,
and iTunes syncs iOS "FROM MY PC" notes to Outlook 2013.
It works okay, except it doesn't preserve rich text formatting for the newer notes,
and there are some pretty important notes since I last synced.

I was freaking out and checked my iPhone again, and the "FROM MY PC" Notes count is no longer zero, and is ever so SLOWLY increasing. So it must be moving them over to iCloud.

However, if I try switching to another app on the iPhone, and then switch back to Notes, the count goes back to zero. So what if I need to use my phone, or if someone calls?

Now I am seeing after a couple of minutes, the iPhone closes Notes and goes back to the home screen, on its own... I'm afraid this will never be done. It's plugged into the charger too and I have autolock disabled. It's connected to a good wifi signal. I turned cellular data off in case that would make any difference.
How do you make it keep Notes open until the transfer finishes?

Then if & when they ever get transferred to iCloud, how will I sync them to the PC? Will they be associated with my iCloud mailbox and accessible through the Notes folder there?

Any help appreciated!
