i updated to iOS 9 on my iPad Air 2 and everything seemed to be working fine. when I updated to iOS 9 on my iPhone 6 Plus, it broke iMessage, FaceTime, eventually sms stopped working correctly (although it will let me sms if I send a group chat that includes my correct number and sms myself), and in settings I also have an incorrect number under the phone tab. it broke iMessage on my iPhone, iPad,and Mac. T Mobile is my carrier. I received an sms from another T Mobile user who had the same thing happen and my phone number is now that user's iMessage default number. tried restarting phone, logging out of iCloud, manually entering my correct phone number in settings. nothing worked. so far. neither Apple nor T Mobile has been able to help. anyone else having this problem?

T-Mobile is having MAJOR issues with the iOS 9 release. I updated my 6+ fine, but got a new 5s from them yesterday. Before I set it up I installed iOS 9 and tried to set the phone up. The phone makes calls, but wifi calling, tethering, and iMessage/FaceTime are not working, all worked on the iOS 8 5c that was being used before. I called T-Mobile and they first said they sent me a non-T-Mobile iPhone (which doesn't matter/ and wasn't true anyway, it was a t-Mobile model according to the model number) I tried a DFU install and it did not change anything. I called them again and by then they knew there was a issue with iOS 9 and they are trying to resolve. I am not updating any of our other iPhones as of now. I would caution everyone on T-Mobile to hold off a bit in the update if they want to play it safe.

TMO in NYC and I haven't had any problems w/ iMessage, FaceTime or SMS on my 6. I am on the 9.1 beta now though. But I didn't have those issues when I was on 9.0 previously either.

so an update: I turned on iMessages and started using my email address for my iMessage account, and I noticed a few minutes later that my phone number was changed back to my correct number and added to my iMessage, FaceTime and phone. things appear to be working correctly now. I don't know if it's because I added my email address or if T-Mobile figured out what was going wrong and fixed it.

T-Mobile iPhone 6 here, I've tried all iOS 9 betas, 9.1 and now public 9.0 release, never had an issue with iMessage.

Sounds like it was likely an Apple server/activation issue. Probably because so many people were grading to the new iOS, rebooting, reregistering, etc.
