Found this video uploaded a few hours ago. iOS 9 is slower here too. That 1 second app delay is frustrating.

That is a not a fair benchmark.

He should be comparing 8.4.1 to 9.4.1 or whatever the polished version of iOS 9 will be rather than the first release.

Better yet how about iOS 8.0 vs iOS 9.0?

I love how he uses words like "destroy user experience" yet the comparison between the 2 operating systems is less than half a second delay.

My favorite is how he says iOS 8 wins the boot up test on the 4S and yet when he swipes the slide to unlock multiple times on iOS 8 nothing happens.

The same screen comes up on the 4S running iOS 9 a few seconds later and immediately the slide to unlock responds on the first attempt.

Should have called that test "which screen lights up first" because even with the screen lit up you still had to wait to be able to unlock it on iOS 8.

It's all about caching. That makes the difference. When you use the 9, you will see it is faster. Unless your main use case is starting apps :)

Idk. I'm running iOS 9 on a 5s and iPad 2 and both are running better than 8.4.1.

more of these videos...ios 9 is excellent on my iphone 6 & a relative's 5s, notification center, task viewer everything

one of the things i hate most about these youtubers making "speed comparison videos" to cash in on, is the wifi speed tests, so many do all the testing devices at the same bloody time & even their once mighty 100mbps down line shows its bottleneck, or the server's up..at least this guy APPEARS to have done them separately..but the cut out of the actual test makes me think..

Just restored to 8.4.1 and it was pretty much instant in noticing how much slicker things were.

If you disable the animations with reduce motion, you probably won't notice. Screen swiping is almost identical.

Loading apps is slower on 9. Not sure how anyone can dispute that. Sending texts, the animation is flickery and laggy on 9.

once ios 9 reaches its final release before ios 10, everyone will be praying to ios 9 as "the best ios ever", u know, that utterly hilarious yearly cycle we always go through

It's very fair, because Apple promised performance gains in the iOS 9.0 update...they didn't say "we'll be including performance improvements in iOS 9.4.1"

No way is this not a fair benchmark!
iOS 9 (even 9.0) is meant to be faster and smoother than iOS 8 (in this case 8.4.1).
So Apple has to make it faster on every device (at least iPhone 6 as this is the current device).
It is not acceptable at all that 9.0 is slower and more stutter than previous versions!

Its totally a fair comparison. It's Apple's last officially pushed OS (8.4.1) vs Apple's current only officially pushed OS (9.0). There's no 9.4.1 so there's no "fair" comparison according to your arbitrary criteria. Also, Apple itself touted "performance enhancements" as a feature that simply didn't materialize. Comparisons are completely fair.

Do people really care about half a second or less delay in app opening? I guess I'm not one that does. I installed it on my iPhone 5s and it works well. I installed it on my 4s and it's hard to judge since I haven't used it in so long, but it looks to be decent.

The biggest lag I notice is opening multi-tasking on my iPhone 6+. Anyone on 9.1 see any difference here?

The only thing that really bugs me is the animation stutters\flicker. Miss that slick fluidity.

I'm quite happy with 9 on my old 5 too. It's. Little bit slower and there are definitely stutters in animation but the advantages are quite large. I just disabled transparency and it's smooth sailing from there. The only thing is, Apple promised performance IMPROVEMENTS and that's just not the case no matter how we slice it.

when somethings popular they look for a way for it to fail, in any way possible, as we know with apple numbers dont lie, its just a fraction that scream every year, the vast majority are neutral or pleased. they act like they were forced to update & "enjoy their slow device" its so dumb its not funny anymore. apple says something then they all expect it flawless instantly, on the x.0, no x.0.1, no x.2 MUST be on the release version or "they lied! it sucks! marketing!". yet the ios "haters" stick around with ios, never leaving it, or going back to & staying at their "flawless previous version" & if ur opposite of them, ur a "fan boy".

once ios 10 beta comes people will be screaming at that too, "ios 9 beta was better than 10 beta" etc

9.0 is NOT slower for me than 8.4.1 on my 6+. So much for "benchmarks".

I have already been using 9 long enough that I have forgotten what 8.4.1 was like. Besides, I'm not going back so it really makes no difference if one is faster than the other. I hope 9 is faster but no matter I'm here now so its no difference either way.

I agree with you, I don't think a half second (or less) delay really matters. I guess it would matter, you know, if I got paid to open apps quicker than someone else?
