iOS and Gmail fight constantly

I'm beyond frustrated, but I suspect Google is actually at fault here.

On my iPad:

• Gmail App works perfectly, but sucks generally as an email client.
• Outlook won't fetch my gmail accounts, particularly hosted domain gmail accounts.
• Mail App won't fetch my gmail accounts (same as above)
• Spark is sporadic in fetching email from Google.

So I'm left having to rely on the crappy Gmail App which I suspect uses a protocol that isn't IMAP?

IMAP is enabled, and the setting for "trust clients" is enabled.

Anyone solve this issue? I hate deleting and adding my accounts repeatedly to get it to work. It's maddening and takes too much time to refetch everything.

I have not had any issues with the official gmail app but I use Easilydo Mail app which works just as well with more features you can try and see if that helps.

Me too currently. I am still looking for the perfect app as I've been with Gmail long enough not to have a number in my email address.

I keep going back to Airmail but find it uses more battery than other apps. I also go back to the iOS Mail app every so often but having to have it set to fetch every 15 mins is a pain

Because of it's market share Gmail has opted not to follow the same rules as everybody else, for example how they handle folders with tags. It's probably a smarter way to do it but it tends to be the first in line when things break. That's why I migrated from Gmail to iCloud and have been satisfied since.

I had major problems with Outlook with fetching Gmail for maybe a month before the last update to Outlook. Since the last update (a week ago maybe?), I haven't had any more problems.

I'm using Inbox for Gmail, it works perfectly. BAR turned on as far as I'm concerned.

Easilydo is the one I found to be the best, I use push rather than fetch for mail and no battery issues.

Are you saying you find Inbox's schizophrenic orgnanization appealing and manageable? I like all Invox has to offer but it's organization and inbox display requires some serious mental work to get through.

And I love their save to inbox...

I disabled all the automatic labelling, other than for Google Play's services, the inbox isn't organized automatically into the cesspool that is the labelling system.

I think I turn all their organization stuff off because my inbox is sorted normally. But I do enjoy the push of having a native gmail app, rather than Apple's email app resorting to only fetch with gmail accounts.

I stopped using Gmail, signed up for Outlook.com and forward all my Gmail to my Outlook.com account so I do not miss anything. Outlook.com plays nicer with the stock apps on the iPhone & iPad (mail, contacts, & calendars). Haven't looked back.

It does, that's one of the appeals of it for people.
