Hi

I have updated my iPad and iPhone to iOS 8.
I am trying to share (via the iCloud Drive) my documents in Numbers and Pages.
Under Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> iCloud on both devices, I have iCloud Drive set to 'On', and within that option, iCloud Drive is set to 'On' as well as Numbers and Pages.
Now, under Settings -> Pages, I have Use iCloud set to 'On'. I can go into Pages, and everything works as it should.
Now, under Settings -> Numbers, I have Use iCloud set to 'On'. If I then go into Numbers, I see no documents. When I return to Settings -> Numbers, the Use iCloud switch has AUTOMATICALLY been set to 'Off'.
This only happens on my iPhone 5s.
On my iPad, everthing works as it should. In Numbers, I can see all of my documents.
If I sign onto my iCloud account on my Mavericks Mac Book Pro, I can see all of my Pages and Numbers documents.
I have contacted Apple about this, and they cannot understand it.
I have scoured the Internet about this problem, and I seem to be unique.
I have (under Apple's suggestion) tried resetting the phone. This did in fact clear out my iCloud Drive documents, but I managed to get them back!
When my phone was empty, they told me to re-download Numbers from the App Store. When I did this - everything worked as it should.
When I restored from my iPhone backup, it went wrong again.

I can't understand how - it all works for my iPad but not for the iPhone.
I can't understand how - it all works for Pages but not for Numbers.

Can anybody shed some light on this.

Thanking you in advance

You are not the only one... I have the same problem, well almost the same... Everything works with Numbers but it doesn't work with Pages.
I have an iPhone 5 - everything works, iPad 4 - everything works, iPad 2 - Numbers and keynote work, but in Pages I can't see any iCloud documents... If I go into settings-Pages-use iCloud and set it to "On", the moment I open the Pages app it goes back to "Off"... I have restored the iPad, deleted Pages and then installed it again... Nothing helps...

Hi borostef

That sounds just like my problem. It only happens on one device and in one of the iWorks programs.

I have tried all the things you have tried - even losing all (Numbers & Word) my documents that were in the iCloud in the process. I did manage to retrieve them - no thanks to Apple!

I have a senior Apple support technician based in Athens looking at this for me, but with no result.

Are Apple looking at your case?

Hi,

I have called Apple support and they only suggested I do all the things I already did... Restore, reinstall, etc... After I told them that I already did all that they said that they don't know what the problem is...
If you find any solution to this problem please let me know, it is really annoying... I will do the same if I manage to figure it out...

voicemail also screwed up

Got iPhone 6 plus. During restore from iCloud I got about 20 saved voicemails out of at least 100 from my iphone 5. Did complete reset and tried again - got LESS old voicemails. Tried it again - got only 2.

iCloud is a JOKE. Keeping only 1 backup is insane. My iPhone 5 backsup in a few seconds (assume its an incremental backup) but it simply does not work correctly. I have a 200 GB account, so there's no space problem.

Apple made applesauce of my data. Tried to fix the problem with ATT, hoping I could get my voicemails back from them somehow. All idiots there.

Bottom line, worst apple experience since i started with iPhone 4 years ago.

SOMEBODY NEEDS TO DO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST APPLE, ITS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL STOP THIS KIND OF INCOMPETENCE. I BET THEY HAVE BILLIONS WE COULD TAP - AND ALL BUY SAMSUNGS WIH THE REIMBURSEMENT (2 EACH).

IN MY 40 YEARS IN THE INDUSTRY, I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH AN UNTESTED, DEFECTIVE, PRODUCT AND SOFTWARE STRATEGY. I MAY RETURN THE IPHONE 6 TODAY. I HAD HIGH HOPES FOR SYNCING WITH iPad and Mac. Perhaps they need a few more years to make it right.

By then, Samsung will have developed industry standards allowing public integration and Apple will be toasted.

I do agree that all this "We are upgrading the sevice to iCloud drive, but don't use it yet if you don't run yosemite on your Mac..." is a complete mess... Why release a service that enables syncing between iOS devices and Macs when you haven't released a Mac operating system that supports it...

Thanks for the reply

Now that I know Apple conned me out of my $$ for an account in iCloud that doesn't do what they said it would, I'm more confident than ever there will be a class action lawsuit against them. The low hanging fruit is simply to large.

Too bad though, because I really started to like Apple. The fact that its Unix based and I love Linux started to wear me down in my bias against Apple. When I finally got a Mac, I started to really fall for it, and their support has been a great help for my wife and lowered the burden on me.

You just can't build your strategy, and sell it, have large pieces which don't work at all. That's a big issue, especially when you consider Apple could hire almost everyone on the planet if they wanted to.

I think they need a major strategy change tough. It's fine to have their current offerings, but I think they need a geek entry portal for people who make their own systems or require much larger computing resources.

Either way I hope to be developing for iOS soon.
