Hi all,

Hopefully I can explain the problem that my iPhone/iMac and Contacts is having with regards to syncing.

I have added new contacts to Mac Contacts app and i have noticed that on some of the contacts has the field "cards: On My Mac and iCloud" which the new entries/contacts don't seem to have thus are not syncing with iCloud and thus onto my iPhone. I have googled mac contacts not syncing with iPhone/icloud to no avail.

In Mac Contacts on the left had side (sidebar) there is All Contacts and below: On my Mac; but then further down the list is the heading iCloud and the contact list shortens.

There must be something I am going wrong or not set up correctly.

P.S. I have just come back to having a iPhone from *Cough* Samsung Galaxy *Cough*
P.P.S My iMac is running Sierra and Not High Sierra and my iPhone is running 11.1.2 - is other words I have not updated them to the latest OS and iOS. Should this be a problem?

The contacts need to be in an account that is syncing to your iPhone. So if that is via "iCloud"...on the Mac, drag the contacts that you want synced onto the actual word "iCloud" in the list on the left. This will make a copy in the iCloud group. You can just select the entire "On My Mac" list and drag it over if you want them all. After you're done, give the cloud a chance to sync them all. Once you're sure they all synced you should probably delete all the contacts in the "On My Mac" group and go to menu item Contacts>Preferences>General and select iCloud as the default account.

Thank you for your reply which I did try, but for some reason it did not seem to work. So as I only had 90 odd contacts I manually copied over/typed/created the missing ones from the iCloud account. I have now also made the iCloud account the default one.
