I blame Tim Cook.

He needs to go, privacy stance or not. He was is and always will be a marketing and profits guy and only puts the love for product game face to SELL his product rather than have it sell less for a great product.

Although I don't know much about this report but yeah. iOS is no longer super stable and reliable. At least when I use iOS 5, I never see even once crash or something.

You do realize that this "article" is just a commercial advertisement for "BTG", right? That's how articles in Fortune, Forbes, and most other magazines work. I know several people in the business.
Here's the buried tidbit:

"BTG came up with its findings by monitoring the company’s SmartChk, a service that runs tests on smartphones and tablets to find problems. That information can then be used to repair the devices. BTG didn’t say exactly how many iOS- and Android-based devices were analyzed in its most recent study..."

Seems like this might be based on iOS versions that are already updated and don't have the issues anymore. That's on top of not really seeing the actual methodology and devices that were tested and all other details of the "study" (not even sure that it was really a study).

What was left out was that apple has been fixing security issues lickety split lately. I don't know if my phone crashes or not. I can't tell, it's not like a BSOD.

As I said above, it's stable for me, but I can't tell if my phone crashes or not. And I don't care what the "studies" show as long as I am satisfied with the performance of the phone.

Except for the android posts on lag, battery drain slowness, lack of updates and understanding if the "study" is even viable you are correct.

Yeah, i rather take those tiny hiccups - like loosing your music from the phone - than seeing nonsense lag. It is much more funnier to see what happens after an update or when connected to your computer. Sometimes there is simple magic!

My latest magic experience was songs disappered from my iphone (happened after updating to ios934). I was hoping to see them coming back now with ios935, but no magic at this time

Well, Apple going down is completely in my expectation and I don't blame anyone including Tim Cook. Here is my thought.

Steve as a CEO is easily 100 times more competitive in terms of vision, executive power, product manage and human resource management and so on than any first class CEO in the world. So a not going-down Apple after Steve would be a surprise to me, otherwise what's the value in Steve and how was he different than any other CEO?

If anyone ever expected Steve was replaceable then he or she may have no idea how a great company like Apple come into existence and what it takes to bring about revolutionary products to market.

PS: The news quoted by OP does not necessarily serve as an evidence for my opinion above. All I am saying is Apple would be going down in general after SJ.

Sony Xperia Z5 doesnt have all of what you mentioned and battery lasts longer than iPhone

Now you may be correct, but people in the Alternatives section are complaining about it. User error? Is android subject to higher user error than android, since we all know that O/S is flawless on flagship devices.

I think it is quite relevant to the topic if you loose your files after updating your phone.

I have been lucky and never really had problems with ios updates - always worked for me like android too. But first time is always the first time. Songs just disappeared from my iphone but not from my ipad.
