This game platform and APP store has turned into a complete **** show. Can not load any games for kids without being inundated with Ads and redirects.

What's the "game platform" when it's about?

Freemium apps on iOS are just as bad on Android. I avoid them like the plague.

Apple Arcade gets rid of that issue, and there’s also wonderful games you can just buy outright, though the ones I know aren’t strictly aimed at kids. - Pascal’s Wager seems really quite good so far, Company of Heroes has recently come to iPad, there’s XCOM and Civilization. The gaming industry as a whole has become a micro-transaction ****-show, lootbox filled and game pass infected nightmare. It’s on consoles and PC as well to varying degrees. But there’s still good stuff out there, you just have to be more selective to avoid the guff, which is a shame, but not a fault of iOS or The App Store. In fact, with Arcase Apple is actively fighting the trend

Freemium games are a pain especially when there is no way to progress really without spending money. This was my main issue with Real Racing 3, it gets to a point where you cant progress really without forking out. I prefer Gear Club because you can actually progress through the game without having to spend.

Agree. Arcade seems to be the only way anymore other than sifting through for hours for the 1/1k good game. Was so much better when you just paid a nominal fee for games, and they even had lite versions to try them out first. And you didn't have Ads and IAPs galore. Or even worse, freaking subs for a game?!

As brought up before in this topic I agree that the current times where the Apple and the majority of developers of games (and other apps) tend to focus on freemium where there are ads (banner, full size video), in-app purchases (gems, lootboxes) and where the premium (pay once, subscription) are more difficult to find since there isn't even a filter in the App Store to search for e.g. pay once app without in-app for example.

There is ofcourse Apple Arcade (although limited in the amount of games) and there is also still GameClub.
Recently Playond stopped (a premium subscription service also active on iOS like Apple Arcade)

Luckily there are third party websites/fora (e.g. TouchArcade, 148Apps, PocketGamer, Reddit groups e.g. iosgaming or indiegaming) and AppApp.io this is an amazing site which has the premium app filters I always wanted to have it only focuses on games though) and apps such as AppRaven where you can find good premium apps. I recently am using a lot the earlier mentioned app where I also created a few lists per game genre (e.g. RTS,RPG,Building, multiplayer on one device) or suggested games (swipe to the left two times so you can also see the suggest apps by other users) for existing lists created by users or the dev. of that app which other users might find handy. The filters on the AppRaven aren't perfect yet and it still needs a dark mode fix in the suggest/create collection. I also created lists there where I mostly included premium games (either pay once or free with in-app pay once to get premium).
