This comment which appears on Asymco's recent graph of iOS's success makes a good point: the halo effect of iOS devices sold will naturally increase the sales of Macs in the future. And since it's not only mums, dads, and teenagers who use iOS devices, surely this halo effect would apply to serious PC users to some extent.

If they release the next Mac Pro with better (or even the same) specs to pro-level PCs, those users may buy in to the Apple ecosystem, if only for a superior designed machine.

I'm sure Apple would be aware of this. We might be looking at bright future for the Mac Pro :)

Sorry but I don't get the logical connection here between iphone/ipad sales and mac pros. Have you walked into an Apple Store lately? If they even have a mac pro it is in an obscure corner, and I have never seen any customers interested in one.

I would venture that the demographics of iphone/ipad consumers are very different from the microscopic proportion of people still buying mac pros.

I can see the potential effect on laptops and imacs, but not mac pros.

But I am afraid YOU are right.

Upon more thought, you're probably right…

Pro PC users know what they want from their PCs and know how to build them, and have probably invested heavily in their software.

Well, the thought was good while it lasted (for me anyway).
