Hello guys

I am very new in the field of IOS development, as a matter of fact I just started learning about IOS development. I want to start developing Apps for iphone and Ipad. I don't have any mac for IOS development. I really need portability for my development.

Can you guys please suggest which kind of mac i should buy?

I am thinking about getting
15inch: 2.6GHz
with Retina display
Specifications
2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
8GB 1600MHz memory

I will be mostly travelling so does 15inch screen works for most of you? (I never had laptop less then 15inch screen) when at home i will be pluging into my external 24 inch monitor.
Is i5 processor and 8gb memory is enough for most of you?
I am not going to devleop any games or very graphic intensive apps. I will be developing mostly business related functional app.
I have been in developing / managing softwares for businesses since last 15 years in Java and now (i know i am late) i am thinking about jumping into this field.

Please let me know your thoughts

Thank you

-Raj

Back in 2012 I bought a 15" Retina MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM, a 2.3Ghz i7 quad core, and a 256GB SSD. The only issue I've had with it is RAM. It has served me perfectly until the last few months when I started getting in to iOS development, and having safari + mail + photoshop + multiple xcode projects open at the same time is...doable but not as fast as on my 16GB Hack Pro. I'd recommend getting the 16GB RAM. Don't make the same mistake I made!

bigger screen usually helps, especially if your App is going to talk to some sort of backend program,

but I'm using a 13" 2010 MBP, so you're good brother!

mac mini + huge screen
install 16 GB ram yourself

Any Mac that can run Yosemite will work. An SSD and an i5 processor will speed things up.

I use a recent MBA 11 for the vast majority of my iOS development. Occasionally, connecting a really big monitor helps with storyboard editing and pixel detail review on the Simulator. But for most coding and device testing, any Mac from the cheapest to a fully loaded Mac Pro will work just fine. Let your budget decide.
