IOS keyboard 2 languages simultaneous supoort

I'm pondering when will iOS offer support for multiple languages simultaneously, preferable only two languages. I'm Hispanic and I'm constantly having to text & communicate with my English speaking friends and family members as well as the Spanish speaking ones and having to have to switch from one keyboard to the other is awful and time consuming.

In addition to that on the iOS keyboard if I want to have emoji it becomes another keyboard to be added and more swapping of keyboard gets added to the commotion.

The best alternative that I have found I'd SwiftKey, but I wish iOS would lift all the slow Ness and give full access to the restrictions Apple had implemented and treats third party keyboard as the immune system would treat foreign pathogens.

I'm sure German-English speaking people and other other languages combinations have the same issue.

Any ideas ?

We can only hope Apple will open up restrictions. We have gotten as far as Apple allowing 3rd party keyboards in their iOS devices which is a good for a start.

I really wish the emojis were not a separate keyboard. Android's method of putting a button on the keyboard to access emojis is better because it gives you the ability to quickly switch layouts without having to skip over an additional layout. I'm constantly going between Russian and English and having to jump over a third one is frustrating.

Agree with that, very similar to swiftkey for iOS.

I regularly text in Hungarian and English, so I feel your pain, but I also can't Phaethon how autocorrect (which many, dare I say most, rely on with on screen keyboards) would work. Couple that with the fact that the alphabet is either completely different or sometimes not in the same order on the keyboard between languages, I just don't see this happening possibly ever.

I wish there was a way to add emoji to shortcuts or autocorrect.
Even that would be sidficient for most of my emoji use. In short, I agree with you.

I have to deal with the same thing, but a good workaround is to disable autocorrect, so you will be able to type in English or Spanish without being bothered with 'spelling mistakes'. Then you can have only two keyboards, emoji and english.

I also juggle between swedish, english and the emoji keyboard. I've turned it into a habit to hold the button and then drag to the language I want instead of having to tap tap tap.

I'll have to check out swift key then. Can you explain how it handles multiple alphabets?

Edit: I went ahead and tried it. Much has changed since it was first implemented. Thank you for mentioning this as it may actually be my new go to. It works a treat with Hungarian and English so long as I start a sentence and end it in English or Hungarian and don't try to mix the two. I'm still curious how this might work with, say, English and Japanese, or two languages where the alphabets are completely different. Do you have experience?

Edit 2: doesn't seem to support 3d touch for cursor movement. Not a deal breaker but I certainly love that feature. It also doesn't seem to have the mic for speech to text . I do use that quite a bit so I'll have to decide whether it's worth the sacrifice. I think it may be. I can always swap to the iOS keyboard on the fly if needed.

Try SwiftKey, I love this keyboard, works flawless and learns from you. You can write two languages at the same time with no issues at all, even with flow type.

List of features has likely been petty much finalized at this point for iOS 10 as they are pretty well under way of having them developed already.

Not always, unfortunately. Sometimes, it defaults back to English or your default language. Apple could make two improvements: provide automatic language detection, like on OS X, or make the keyboard selection context-aware. In Messages, I noticed that the keyboard preference sticks with each contact, but this is not the case in third-party applications.

As for the OP's question, I know the problem VERY well. It baffles me that Apple never improved upon this.

Thx and yes I have tried this, but then amounts of mistakes become too many. Also when using this mode I miss the English apostrophe and other common English grammar shortcuts eg: I'm, we're, you're,. Also I'm not a good Spanish writer and commit horrible mistakes. Thx you again I'm going to try it.

In the particular scenario I described, and that's only the emoji keyboard, as long as you tap on a key tapping the globe will go back to the previously used. Otherwise you're correct.
There are boatloads of improvements they could make.
With apple's stance on privacy however, I doubt they'd ever introduce context aware solutions. Most people I know would shudder at the thought.

I do not see why not. In iOS 9, all the intelligence features are offline as well. They only need an algorithm that looks at some of the past messages or the text presented on the screen, maybe even the name of the contact, their address and such. They do not have to extend that feature to third-party keyboards, just their own.

But these restrictions stop any of these features from being truly great. This battle between privacy and pro activity is a tough one. Restricting analysis of data to offline patterns is more often than not inconclusive, which speaks to why proactive siri is practically useless.

I have actually written a complaint about the keyboard to Apple. This was many years ago when I first used a windows 8 phone and felt that that keyboard blew iOS keyboard out of the water. Quote frankly, it still does. The iOS keyboard really hasn't advanced much in its near decade of existence. I am sadly unsure that letters do much.

As an aside I have been using swiftkey a few days now and am rather happy with it. A few shortcoming, but my spelling accuracy (read: intelligent autocrrect) has improved immensely.

I have also been using swiftkey but is annoying how it takes long to initiate every time. It is in all the sense treated by iOS like a third party keyboard.

Seems to load in a fraction of a second on my 6s+. It is certainly something I noticed, but not a deal breaker. I am more annoyed at the lack of speach to text option on the keyboard than that.

It's really annoying the we have to "step" over the emoji keyboard when we use German English for example.

Swiftkey isn't working all that great. But I do believe that this is apples fault. Another thing is the look of swiftkey. It sucks. A iOS 9 theme would be nice.
