Hi all,
I am wondering if someone can help as this is literally driving me nuts now and has been for a while.
With the stock mail app on iOS I have an issue where notifications are not clearing from the lock screen as i would expect.
As an example. If I receive emails they show up on my iPhone X and iPad Pro 10.5 on the lock screen. If i then open up the email on my phone and read, reply or delete it. The notification for that email remains on the lock screen of my iPad Pro. Even if the email has several replies that i have responded to. All the emails will remain on the lock screen of the device.
The only way the notifications clear is if I unlock the iPad, go into mail and allow it to sync.
If I read the mails on my MacBook Pro then the notifications remain on the lock screen of both my iPhone X and iPad Pro
Now this is only a iOS Mail issue as if I use the exact same email accounts with Microsoft Outlook App then that behaves as i would expect and notifications clear within a second or so on either device once the mail is actioned on another.
Things I have done to try and resolve:
- Both devices are on 11.2.5 beta 5. I have downgraded both to 11.2.2 but issue remains even after trying all the steps below on both official and beta software.
- Turned Push off, restarted device, re-enabled push on both devices
- Deleted and reinstalled Mail on both devices
- Signed out, restarted device, signed back in again on both devices
- Reset all settings on both devices
- Restored each device from a back up
- Set up each device as new
I have been on to a Level 2 Engineer technical support from Apple twice. The first one told me he couldn't fathom out the issue, the second said it was intended behaviour (which i find extremely odd if it is).
I stopped using Mail for a while and used Outlook. But it was causing issues with my work account so went back to mail.
If anyone can help resolve this I would be most grateful as it's bugging me now (as I'm a tad OCD which in turn means i'm annoying my wife with it!
)
Thanks
Carl
