iOS Mail Recents

In the past I have removed old recent email contacts from the mail app. several times actually, but they always keep coming back, especially after an update in iOS.
Has anyone had this issue and figured a way for these recents to stop coming back again and again?

[doublepost=1474950938][/doublepost]They may be all in the cloud. Itis a guess. But try turning off contacts in iCould. Then wait. Then turn contacts back on.
