As iOS and OSX become ever closer to become a single OS do you think the OS would support SD cards and USB? or would Apple promote more cloud computing and release this hydrib OS without any USB or SD card support?

It supports SD cards on the iPad with the adapter. Doesn't do much but it supports it.

that's good, because I am trying to cut away from using my mbp and just do everything with my ipad. For this to happen I need to be able to upload photos and other stuff to my iPad via SD/USB.

Remember that you can also use Dropbox (and others) to transfer & access files on your computer and iPad. I have the Camera Kit (USB/SD) for photos and Dropbox for just about everything else. Load the files into Dropbox and then use with your choice of app on iPad. :)

It's a start.

It's only for capturing from a camera (not photos from another computer) and it doesn't work on the iPhone...but it's something.

A USB port for flash drives plus a file system (on board folders) would be a HUGE step away from the computer to the iPad. I sure hope this comes to pass. Granted, Dropbox is great, but it's still storing your materials on someone else's computer. The chance for compromise is always there.

The addition of iPhoto to the "i" apps has elevated the photo abilities to a new level - being able to name and access data about photos now puts the iPad closer to being used at a professional level for processing pix.
