So for the last year or so, I've been avoiding updating my software in fear of exactly this. I recently needed to download an app (financial/finances/budget management) that was only available on the newest version of iOS. So I reluctantly downloaded...

Well, now my battery life on the phone is noticably slower. Why would Apple offer 13.4.1 on an iPhone 6 if it compromises the battery to such an extent? And why wouldn't they provide us options to downgrade back to the old software?

Now I'm scrambling to figure out ways to save on battery life. I used to be able to go a full day without charging, even if I forgot to charge overnight. With video watching, internet browsing, music listening...

Now I'm charging at least twice a day.

Any tips on how I can save battery life? Did the software update change something in my settings that's causing it to hog battery life? Something I'm not seeing? I disabled app refresh on every app across my device, still no luck.

Any suggestions?

I think the forst step is to reset and start over and set things up again and compare if there are any changes in battery life after. Whats the battery capacity?

Your iPhone might be compiling stuff behind the scene since you mentioned you made a A huge software leap. Try turning off background app refresh in settings>general as well. Monitor it for a few more days and then decide if iOS 13 is the culprit.

as mentioned above, now might be the best time to start from scratch and restore your iPhone then one by one slowly install apps as the need arises.

Have you looked at the battery options under Settings to see if you can identify anything particular causing an issue? I noticed an issue with my 6s a while ago and it turned out to be an app no longer updated that i used purely to show calendar info on the widget screen and it wasnt playing nicely with the newer software. I turned it off in the widgets and my battery got a lot better.

If your iPhone was recently updated to iOS 13, it will take a while before everything goes back to normal. if your iPhone 6 was running an substantially old version of iOS that can also be the issue. (ie, going from iOS 10 to iOS 13).
