I got my hands on a new iPhone 6 with iOS 8.2. I am holding off from using it until I am able to jailbreak it. There's some talk about an iOS 8.3 jailbreak coming out soon. Am I better off staying on iOS 8.2 or will the "touted" jailbreak cover 8.2 and 8.3?

Yes, yes, I know none of us know FOR SURE, I'm just asking some of the seasoned jail breakers to speculate.

In my experience, whenever they release a new jailbreak it is compatible with the current iOS version.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, they don't usually release a jailbreak for past versions. I think I'll update to 8.3 while I can.

I am looking to purchase an iPhone 6 that is sealed and purchased on 2/05/2015. What are the chances that it has a version that I can jailbreak?

iOS 8.1.3 was released on 1/27/2015. That is a little too late for the iPhone to have a 8.1.3 right?

I would think it depends on your carrier and the color/capacity you choose. In other words, just how popular is the model you have or want.

My wife was fortunate twice to get her iPhones (iPhone 5 and iPhone 6) with jailbreakable versions of iOS. Each time it was during a period when there was no jailbreak for the latest version.

But the models my wife got was the 64GB iPhone 5 on Sprint and now the 128GB iPhone 6 on Sprint. Certainly if she had purchased a 16GB AT&T iPhone 6 she would not be so fortunate.

I am hopeful that my Sprint 128GB 6 Plus will also be jailbreakable. Currently, my iPhone 5 is not.

I checked the purchase date from an IMEI site and it said 01/17/2015 as the purchase date. Can I be confident that this iPhone 6 has iOS 8.1.2 or earlier?

edit: I guess my question is, how accurate are the purchase dates? Would a purchase date be earlier than it was actually manufactured/sold?
