iOS updates cause.... [duplicate photos]

I can't figure this out! Every time there is an iOS update, certain photos in my photo library are duplicated--many of them up to 150 times! After updating to the latest version, the resulting photo library swelled to 1,700 photos. Some were duplicated 100+ times. Before the update, I had 267 in my photo library. I use iCloud Photo Library and have photo stream on. Works flawlessly until an iOS update comes. This happens on all my devices as well: iPad mini, iPhone 6s Plus and iPad Air. Anyone point me in the right direction please? Thx in advance.

No preventative solution, sorry, but I have a similar problem. After every update any photos synced from my Mac are messed up - folders are duplicated, photos are randomly distributed amongst them, sometimes duplicate photos. The only remedial solution I find is to unsync all photos, then resync them. It happens without fail after every update and has done so at least as far back as this time last year (i.e. pre-dating iOS 9).

i switched to google photos because of the phantom space that icloud was using even without having photos or videos on it.
try google photos. its very fast and with many features for searching and editing and also unlimited space if use choose high resolution.

Thanks guys. It is very frustrating having to delete over a 1,000 photos on all devices after every update! I do use Google photos as well, but as an additional storage back up to iCloud.

Same issue here. Has been happening since iOS 8.0 on my devices. Tried restore as new and from backup. Hasn't fixed the issue. It's only on my iPhone. Not my iPad though. Very odd.

Strange. I've never experienced this. I've been using iCloud Photo Library since it was introduced.

The issue stems from syncing albums from your computer. Not through the photos app but from the pictures folder in Finder.

I mean the only way to stop it from happening is to stop syncing photos via iTunes. This has been going on for well over year now for me.
