Wow - fantastic

I didn’t even think about my air 1, obviously I knew all the old iPhones were getting the treatment but great to know they thought about the old iPads too

I am still using iOS 8 on my iPad air 1 , it's slow on Internet browing ,always hang on playing game, the reason
Why I am still stay on iOS 8 is the movie transfer, I am using ifunbox to transfer movie, I am still consider should I
upgrad to iOS 12, beside I just only see the iOS 11 on the software update under the setting , should I backup all the
data , erase all content and then update to iOS 11 first before ?

Thanks all of you guys !!

I did a wipe; loaded iOS12 via WiFi after the wipe - worked out awesome. Can't remember the last time I picked up my Air to actually use and enjoy using it. It's been great since the update.

You probably need to update to 11 in order to put 12 on it, but I am not 100% sure on that.

I have an original iPad Air that ran quite well on iOS 10, 11, and now iOS 12. It keeps me from shelling out for another iPad, maybe a 2019 budget iPad if the iPad Air doesn't get iOS 13.

I’m going to update my Air 1 to iOS 12.

Do you guys normally ‘wipe’ your iPads before major updates? If so, how is that done?

I’ve bought every iPad up to the Air first gen. Runs strong on iOS 12. I still get epic battery life lol.

I will be upgrading for sure to the next iPad, but for anyone still using an original air this update is a must.

Chiming in to say thanks for the opinions on the Air 1 + 12. I inherited one running 10.0.2 after repeated OTA updates over the years and it's a bit of a dog. I'd always hoped to DFU it but didn't want to update the OS since 11 was signed by the time I got the device. I'm pretty anti update (running 10.3.3 on my 6S Plus) but I've been really weighing breaking my own rule to try and resurrect the iPad.

A follow up from me - I did a DFU restore after downloading an ipsw file from ipsw.me and so far so good.

another Ipad Air owner.. Been eyeing a pro with pencil for a while now, but I rarely used my Air to justify the Pro.. glad IOS12 speeds things up. Will continue to use it!

I did my iPad Air 1 week ago. I was surprised how useable now with iOS12. that definitely better than ios11. I use safari when I pitch zoom it use be so slow and delay. Wish iOS12 did resolved it. nice.
