iOS 17 Notable Changes

• Download maps to use offline​

All of my saved/favorited locations have disappeared in Maps on iOS 17. I can still see them on my macOS 12 Maps app but I'm not sure if updating to iOS 17 has nuked them behind the scenes in the cloud or not.

Edit: Seems like it needed some sync time. All of my favorites are back.

Offline maps are very, very welcome. Especially if I know I'll be headed to an area with very poor or non-existent cell service.

I wonder how this will work in practice.

So...a wide release of Look Around for the rest of the US...what do we think? I remember us speculating that it might be tied to the headset. Having seen it now...I'm doubting it. Maybe it's just me, but since the headset is AR and not VR...I'm not so sure tying a Look Around release to it makes much sense.

That aside, offline maps is great, so looking forward to that! And the contour map on watchOS looks like it'll be pretty cool!

Just installed iOS 17 but I don’t see a way to download maps offline.

Checked Maps settings, Preferences panel, Map type card, and specific POIs.

Downloaded and then drove to the airport…flawless..all my favorites are there.

Yep…just checked every possible setting as well… o offline maps that I can find or a setting to select an area. Not yet…

Thanks, just appeared on my device, although it says it's not available in my region (I'm in DFW).

Update: Locations are now appearing to download.

Do you mean the dash that is right in front of you where you should be looking anyway??

The phone or screen off to the side is the one that should only take a glance or be in your peripheral vision (with sound prompts as needed) to advise on upcoming turns or hazards. Having one's speed on a screen/phone has NEVER made sense to me...even with the argument around warning you to stay within the speed limit. If one is that oblivious to how fast they are or should be driving, I question if they should even be driving in the first place (yes...I may take driving properly WAY too seriously...😇)
